In the wake of the death of a Bel Air woman, activists demand more transgender right

Md. BELAIR — A regular food delivery last month resulted in the fatal shooting of a transgender woman.

Vigil recalls the woman who was killed in the killing in Bel Air.

Then, activists are calling for greater trans rights from the state.

Maryland Safe Haven held a rally on Monday in front of the Bel Air clerk’s office for the Harford County Circuit Court.

The region was urged by activists to alter how it defines and prosecutes hate crimes.

According to them, officers are not treating Lewis’ crime as a hate crime, and Brian Delen, the shooter, was released from custody without posting bail.

Iya Dammons remarked, “Harford County, you are showing up and demonstrating to individuals that it is acceptable to hurt us transgender people, letting the people out on their own recognizance.” That is a very significant and significant event. While Megan is in a field somewhere and we are battling inequality in Harford County, our own neighborhood, he is at home getting hot.

Delen is in possession of a current wear-and-tear sanction for his firearm, according to the police.

His initial hearing is set for January 25 and he was accused of second-degree death.

Authorities are still looking into all the information to determine what additional costs are appropriate, according to a statement from the Harford County State’s Attorney.
