Hispanic leader expresses regret for calling transgender senator “man dressed as a girl”

Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the president of Mexico City (TND), issued an apology on Tuesday in response to allegations that he had sexually assaulted a transgender legislator.

López Obrador said, “I want to… offer an apology to a coworker who identifies as female.”

Salma Luevano, one of Mexico’s first transgender legislators, was originally described by the leader as a “man dressed as a woman.”

López Obrador’s apology was deemed important by Luevano, who also noted that she was waiting for his approval.

President @lopezobrador_ apologized to me now for making inaccurate generalizations about me. The senator wrote on X, the app formerly known as Twitter, “This declaration is extremely important because it makes visible a battle that has taken us years.” “I am a transgender woman, and that is not up for debate,” she said. “I’m currently awaiting the president’s arrival.”

Luevano also disproved claims that López Obrador withdrew after discovering her identity.

The senator remarked, “President @lopezobrador_ knows that I am a TRANS girl and besides there is tremendous common respect.” “From what I can tell, @lopezdoriga, your Ridiculous Awareness and rotten mind lead you to believe that everyone is your kind.” “Don’t FORGET: THE Anxiety reflects fear and uncertainty.”

Lately, López Obrador has come under fire for his requirements for assisting the United States with its border problems.

The Mexican president requested that President Joe Biden lift the embargo on Cuba, end sanctions against Venezuela, give $20 billion to Latin American and Caribbean nations, and give work visas to 10 million Hispanics who have lived in the country for at least 10 years.

According to López Obrador, the financial relief may focus on the root of the wave of illegal immigration.

According to Fox News, “We have always talked about addressing the causes,” he said. “The best thing to do is to aid developing nations.”

The White House acknowledged that “irregular migration” is a “hemispheric problem” that affects nations besides the United States and Mexico.

According to a White House official, “We have maintained effective and productive conversations with our Latin partners since the beginning of the Administration as part of our commitment to address the issue of migration in the Western Hemisphere.”

The Biden administration has concentrated on increasing cooperation, expanding legal immigration opportunities, and addressing migration’s underlying reasons, the spokesperson added.
