We want the flexibility to be who we are, regardless of our race—Black, White, Brown, Native, Newcomer, or Transgender. However, some individuals use our appearance, place of origin, or gender to categorize us in an effort to gain and maintain power.
This is evident in how Black children are instructed in hair care or how women are sent home to change into their clothing. And in how some lawmakers take advantage of their ignorance of trans people by excluding transgender children from activities, education, and health care. Instead of demanding what our people need, they incite anxiety, which causes others to rebel against them.
Now is the time for us to come forward, reject this section, and forge a better future for all of us—regardless of our age, races, or females. We can guarantee that each of us has the freedom to be ourselves, do our goals, and have a good living — no exceptions- by banding up, as we have done in the past, to pass protections against discrimination.
