A federal appeals court ruled on Thursday that Alabama can start soon enforcing a restrictions outlawing the use of hormones and puberty blockers to address transgender people under the age of 19, granting the government’s request to be an initial injunction that had prevented the 2022 law from being enforced.
Families with trans children petitioned the entire appellate court to overturn the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ‘ earlier decision that the injunction may be vacated. However, the choice had been properly on hold for more than 18 months. While the whole courtroom decides whether to explore the matter, the Thursday order will permit the ban to go into effect.
