Ohio has outlawed “gender-affirming maintenance” for children and made it illegal for trans women and girls to play on sporting teams.
Republican Governor Mike DeWine’s reject of the act was overridden by the Republican-dominated state Senate, which voted to do so.

The new legislation restricts mental health care for transgender people under the age of 18 and outlaws hormone treatment and sex reassignment procedures. According to the Associated Press, the legislation also forbids transgender girls and women from girls ‘sports teams at both the K–12 and collegiate levels.
In about 90 days, the legislation is anticipated to go into effect.
