Mark Robinson has been nominated by North Carolina Republicans as their candidate for chancellor despite the fact that he once called LGBTQ+ persons “filth” and has a history of making aggressive notes.
On Tuesday (5 March), Robinson, the state’s lieutenant governor, won the Republican party’s gubernatorial primary, setting him up for what is anticipated to be a close fight with Democrat and state attorney general Josh Stein in November’s election.
The state’s second Black commander governor, according to former president Donald Trump, is “Martin Luther King on steroids.”
Given Robinson’s history of making provocative remarks about the LGBTQ+ neighborhood, sexual rights, religion, and school shooting victims, it is strange to compare him to the classic civil rights leader.
Here’s a quick primer on what Robinson has said in the history.
He again called LGBTQ+ persons “filthers.”
After a picture of him ranting against kids “how to detest America” before referring to LGBTQ+ names as “that filth,” Mark Robinson was asked to resign in 2021.
He said he wasn’t ashamed of his remarks, and he challenged anyone who didn’t agree to “come see” him instead of apologizing.
That is filthy when you introduce these older style issues to kids, he said.
He continued to refer to LGBTQ+ issues as “adult matters” with “no firm around children,” making claims that right-wing speech was being “demonized.”
Just a few weeks later, Robinson claimed that direct people are “superior” gay people.
Robinson was caught on camera questioning the “purpose” of being queer, continuing his pattern of attacking the LGBTQ+ area. He also compared “what the cattle keep on” and gay people to maggots.
He asserted that heterosexual people are “superior” because they “can do something these people can’t do,” before claiming that homosexuality “creates nothing” and that homosexuality is “superior” because they “can do something these people can’t do.”
He claimed that the transgender rights movements possessed” the soul of the antichrist.”
According to Robinson, trans rights are “demonic” and “full of the heart of the devil.”
He also criticized schools for “dragging” kids “down into the pit of hell” by teaching about LGBTQ+ issues and said transgender people couldn’t change “what God put in you” even if they were “drugged up, dressed up, made up, cut up.”
According to Robinson, trans women may be detained for using public restrooms.
At a campaign event last quarter, Robinson threatened that transgender people who use a women’s bathroom would be “arrested” or “whatever we do to you.”
He claimed at a unique event that discussions about transgender issues should be held in “find a corner outside to go” to the restroom and that such discussions are “tearing society over”.
He has frequently criticized gender-affirming heath and trans youth.
A transgender child featured on a National Geographic magazine cover was described by Robinson in a 2016 Facebook post as” ill” and “demonic behavior.” The US would n’t” live God’s wrath” if transgender people were confirmed, he therefore said.
The man who hoped to be sitting in the governor’s mansion in November at a protest in May falsely claimed that” clinics” were carrying out gender-affirming surgeries on transgender children as young as five years old.
He referred to gender-affirming healthcare as “abusing children” and predicted that society would n’t last for very long if such care was still in place.
He became” sick” because of the LGBTQ+ Pride flag.
Robinson just said,” God formed me because he knew there was going to be a moment when God’s understanding was going to be unpleasant to the cruel: when kids were going to be dragged down to see the move present, when porn was going to be presented to our children in schools.
Every time a church displays an LGBTQ+ Pride flag, it makes him tired, and he thinks like acceptance is a “direct spit in the face of God almighty”
He once more attacked the Pride flag, saying,” I do n’t want to see the rainbow as a sign of God’s covenant with man. If it costs me the governor of this status, so be it. But I wo n’t let my soul be lost in it.
He asserted on numerous occasions that Michelle Obama is quietly transgender.
A cruel and anti-trans conspiracy theory spread by some right-wingers is prevalent on Robinson’s private Facebook full of posts that suggest former First Lady Michelle Obama is transgender.
Robinson refers to her in his articles by using he/him adjectives and wondered if she would “take the day off” being a woman. He added that while” Melani Trump speaks five languages,” ( Obama ) also spoke “female, male, ghetto, anti-American liberal, and wookie”
Robinson denounces pregnancy, denies the Holocaust, and makes fun of school shooting victims.
In a 2014 Facebook post, the Trump-endorsed member cited Adolf Hitler’s talk about racial pride. Robinson clarified at a Moms for Liberty summit last year that just because he quoted the Nazi dictator did n’t imply that he supported him.
WRAL reported that he once called the Holocaust “hogwash” and that he again made the claim that the number of Jewish people killed by Nazis was false.
He when described the film Black Panther as being” created by an independent Jew and put to video by [a ] devilish Communist,” according to The Guardian. Therefore, according to him, “was only created to draw the pounds out of your Schvartze pockets.”
Robinson has a history of making homophobic remarks, and he has called the victims of the 2018 Parkland school shooting, which left 17 people dead, “media prosti-tots” ( media prosti-tots ). In addition, Robinson asserted that he represented typical Americans who feel threatened and whose security is threatened by attempts to restrict access to firearms in 2018. He was elected to the National Rifle Association, a highly regarded lobby group, after his statement.
He has made fun of the# MeToo movement and said he would n’t be surprised if the atrocities of September 11 were an “inside job.”
He claims Catholics are” called to be led by men” rather than females, and that they are” called to be led by men.” He threatened to use his semi-automatic AR-15 weapons against the authorities if it “gets too large for its pants” and described contraception as murder, a “moral bad, like slavery.”
He has stated that once a person conceives, “it’s not]their ] body any more.” Additionally, he has pledged to “protect existence from vision, saying of pregnancy:” We got it over to 12 months. The next step is to reduce it to six before moving on, according to The Guardian.
