COMMENTARY

The position in Port- une- Prince, Haiti, is worsening by the hour, a issue that has been met with a remarkable indifference on the part of many countries. The last week was marked by dangers of widespread violence, as” Barbecue,” the head of the city’s primary criminal gang, threatens the coastal city’s entire population with murder in the coming time if he does not succeed in removing the reins of power by pressure.

This past weekend, his people tried to storm the National Palace, but failed.

The most stigmatized and ostracized groups in society, including LGBT+ people who have been displaced or taken prisoner in neighborhoods controlled by drug traffickers, are among the groups most at risk of murder.

Organizations in Guadeloupe, Martinique, the United States, and the rest of France have released a press release in response to this intolerable position, urging the governments there to send a military force to stop people from threatening to detach Haiti from the people and place them in bulk graves.
