Four Cleveland-based nonprofits were among the 361 people who received sizable donations this week from billionaire MacKenzie Scott, who pledged to give everything away “until the safe is clear” after Jeff Bezos, the Amazon tycoon, divorcee.

Birthing Beautiful Communities ($ 2 million ), the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland ($ 2 million ), Fairfax Renaissance Development Corp. ($ 1 million ) and Towards Employment ($ 2 million ) shared announcements today on the historic donations, which totaled$ 641 million nationally.

More than 6, 000 groups applied for financing after an empty contact next year from Yield Giving, Scott’s no- profit, as it sought to seed” community- led, community- focused” groups.

” For our board, employees and colleagues who care about our work, this is a dream come true”, Emily Rizika, Towards Employment President and CEO said in speech. This is a great opportunity to consider how this one-time funding can be a catalyst for high-impact, equal area change because the world of job is quickly changing.

The LGBT Community Center of Cleveland’s executive director, Phyllis Harris, stated,” We are honestly moved by this revolutionary product, which furthers our unwavering commitment to service excellence. The LGBTQIA group can rely on the Center’s command to take forward this essential support in a forward-thinking manner.

Scott has recently made funds to CMSD, the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, and the YMCA and YWCAs of Greater Cleveland.

” We are excited that our relationship with Offer Giving has resonated with so many companies”, Cecilia Conrad, CEO of Lever for Change, said in a speech. The Open Call has given us an opportunity to discover, boost, and enable transformational organizations that frequently remain unseen in a world filled with potential and skills.
