Rhode Islanders who are Gay are being helped by the RI Foundation.
Heaven, RI–Nonprofits that serve the state’s LGBTQ communities have until to apply for grants of up to$ 10, 000 through the Equity Action Fund at the Rhode Island Foundation.
” These offers are available to businesses that focus on Rhode Island’s Gay areas, as well as organizations that are launching or expanding their job in the LGBTQ areas”, said David N. Cicilline, the Foundation’s president and CEO. ” Calls should aim to support, encourage justice for or improve the lives of LGBTQ Rhode Islanders”.
There are two different types of offers: projects that address the top requires of LGBTQ areas and capacity-building initiatives like committee building, strategic planning, and fundraising for organizations that play a crucial and special role in LGBTQ communities. One job or one capacity-building offer is available to candidates annually.
Last year, the Foundation awarded grants ranging from$ 2, 500 to$ 10, 000 to 12 organizations, including GLBTQ Legal Advocates and Defenders, Meals on Wheels of RI, Newport Pride, Project Weber/RENEW, the Open Door Health clinic at the Rhode Island Public Health Foundation, Sojourner House and Youth Pride Inc.
The job included giving health care, supporting continued youth and civic rights lobbying, providing youth applications, and protecting Gay victims of intimate partner violence, sexual abuse, and human trafficking.
The fund has provided more than$ 1.2 million in grants to dozens of organizations over the years under the direction of a volunteer advisory committee made up of leaders in the LGBTQ community. By making a donation to the fund, the general public may help it continue its function.
The Rhode Island Foundation is Rhode Island’s largest and most complete backer of nonprofit agencies. Through political leadership, charity, and grant- making activities, usually in partnership with individuals and organizations, the Foundation is helping improve the lives of all Rhode Islanders.
