Be seen and been heard: A cheer chat on Trans Day of Visibility

I’ve been at Outsports since 2019. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to handle breaking news, feature intriguing individuals, and highlight significant issues.

My coworkers have given me the opportunity to express what I think and feel on Transgender Day of Visibility.

I’ve written a lot about the issues transgender people who merely want to play sports are having, mainly trans children.

With TDoV 2024 coming Sunday, Coach Karleigh has her folder and whistle.

Get active and get off the outside

Our fortnightly handbook is jam-packed with everything from heated locker rooms to pressing LGBTQ sports problems.

I think a cheer talk is in order.

We know about the pro-trans costs passed in 25 states. As some politicians try to win their social games, those Erin Reed hazard maps continue to appear darker purple every day.

We’ve seen how governing bodies transform present and future frenzy into isolation.

Transphobia over wondering. Foolish fear sold as “fairness”.

Fairness for whom?

We are seated in the middle. Those of us who enjoy playing and those who aspire to.

Those of us instructor, cry and praise.

You are aware of what others think of us.

“Why can they have their own department”?

“They’re fraudsters”

We’ve been hearing that a lot, especially in the past 5 times. In that first event, and every other circumstance they were wrong.

When CeCé finished fifth, they were making a younger woman a problem. When she won, they made an effort to state always worse.

They did the same to Lia, and Austin, and Emily, and Natalie, and Hailey.

“They are nothing to worry about. They aren’t really men and can’t compete”

They told Chris that. They told Schuyler that. They told Iszac that.

Yet as they bird him, they try to tell Patricio that. With that upcoming fight scheduled for April 4 and a chance to move 4-and-0, I can see you sweeting in the gym.

I know you are tired and frustrated, even if the period is over. In Vermont, I see you, that young baseball player. Some high school athletes just won at their state and regional championships.

I notice Meghan Cortez-Fields getting slammed for her academic performance at a school that people who immediately experience issues are perhaps never aware of.

It’s all because Lia Thomas also lives in their minds, rent-free.

We hear the noise. It’s hard to turn off the sound.

But as a society, we will move off the sounds and do something different.

We will be seen. We will be heard. Soccer is our straight.

Nikki Hiltz of the United States poses for photos after finishing second in the women's 1,500-meter final at the World Athletics Indoor Championships at Emirates Arena on March 3, 2024, in Glasgow, Scotland.

Get your peaks and lunge outside, Sadie Schreiner. Four other athletes advanced to the finals in a final heat of four at NCAA Division III track and field, including you who were only .007 moments away.

Brooklyn Ross, with each victory, gets one more chance to shine on the national level.

Hey, Cal Calamia! Keep everyone in the dust. That final push is what I’m hoping to discover.

That goes for you too, skater Nikki Hiltz. I want to view you keep your Parisian time this summer.

Tifanny Abreu, getting that Superliga Feminina tournament. Her team is currently in the finals.

Jacqueline Cook, available pits on offense and close them on defense.

Car runner Charlie Martin is revving her website up across the Atlantic Ocean. She has a chance to compete in a fantasy at LeMans this season thanks to the line she is in. Stand on it, person!

Sunday may see a family-friendly game at Truk United SC. On the Football v. Transphobia Podcast, which is hosted by Outsports’ Jon Holmes, I heard one of your own, Football v. Transphobia leader Natalie Washington.

Soccer goalie Blair Hamilton, a.k.a. “The Washing Machine”, was also on the radio. When she isn’t in the goal for the fifth-tier Saltdean United, she occasionally patrols the TRUK United net. Since joining Saltdean last year and in the midst of a prosperous this year, she says the help she received from her friends was crucial.

“I’ve never been in a dressing room where everyone is so coldness and has so many personas”, she said. “One’s got you up and that makes items special”.

Teammates having your up. We need to see that. That must be known, especially for young people who will take the field in the springtime and the following month.

I know what that’s like.

I was getting my shirt with my sport teammates this time next year. One of my friends told me,” Karleigh, you’re set and you’re one of us then”.

Get seen. Get heard.

That goes for coaches and club officials. Being at the top means being at the end. It might involve standing up for the incorporation you claim to support. It does mean speaking up, even if your words shake.

It can be plain, but challenging. Some have carried it out. The Vermont Principals Association fought for transgender equality in their high school sports next month. Ramapo College clapped back when anti-trans headline internet attempted to demonize Cortez-Fields.

Noa-Lynn van Leuven caused the Dutch national arrows team to quit, but it didn’t go quiet or shrink. They fought in the Van Leuven Tombstone-style.

Also, bye!

I see you Much Island Roller Insurgents telling Nassau County’s pro-trans professional, “Oh, you need to discriminate? Fine! See you in court!”

Take notes, NCAA President Charlie Baker, and therefore address Riley Gaines and the political figures who are bringing your lawsuit against you.

That’s the help I want to discover out there. It’s the help we need today. The nature of the group must be up against those who want to “lock” the games that everyone has worked so hard to open.

Choose only let me locked up and play ball, according to a strong Ohio football defensive player named Julie “All” Day.

That is all we want.

Prepared? Bust!
