Every Trans Kid Should “Grant Yourself Grace,” says Emira D’Spain.

Emira D’Spain may be best known for her GRWM-style elegance videos, or she may be the first Black trans Victoria’s Secret model to always type in the genre. On TikTok, she shares various aspects of her trans individuality with her million-plus followers, and back of Trans Day of Visibility on March 31, she spoke to PS about her journey, female euphoria, and more. Learn it all, in her own words, above.

When did I initially experience female joy? My kids are thus accepting of me, so that’s, for me, truly when I always have the most female joy. Only being around my home. And knowing that that’s something that not many gay kids and adults go through, I grow more and more appreciative of the people I meet in the community. It’s something that I hold very dear to my spirit.

Although Lady Gaga is not gay, she is one I often looked up to because of how much she affected my coming-of-age as an adult. When Gaga was first charting in middle class, the time of “Born This Way” and all those other music, she made me feel so empowered that I was get myself and live my reality.

“Life unfolds in the way it’s supposed to”.

These days, I have made myself known not only for being trans; a lot of my audience doesn’t even know that I’m trans. I feel like whenever I do talk about it, it’s almost like,” Oh, whoa, I didn’t know that about her”. I think that’s constantly really exciting. Most trans creators, in my opinion, include it in their articles, and I occasionally discuss it. I believe it’s appropriate for me to do that because people who don’t know that about me now have a different opinion of me. However, seeing other queer authors living their lives and developing careers right now is really inspiring.

My personal advice to other young trans people is that it will all work out and things will get better. Everything works out in the end if you’re having trouble accepting people who accept you, you accept yourself, and you live in your reality. It’s hard to remember in the moment of course, but over time, living unfolds in the way it’s supposed to. Just be generous with your time and kindness.
