LaKendra Andrews, a 26-year-old Black trans woman from Shreveport, Louisiana, was the organization’s leader. LaKendra was “interested in cooking, drawing, dancing, bread, and music,” according to PGHLesbian Journalists. She had a thing for Nicki Minaj.
On April 29, 2023, LaKendra was tragically shot in Dallas, Texas, marking the 26th aggressive murder of a transgender or sex non-conforming individual we have identified. Despite the fact that LaKendra passed away more than six months ago, preliminary reports of her passing were inaccurate. We were only able to pinpoint her dying thanks to information provided by the lobbying group Nu Trans Movement.
