For those interested in learning about the experience of transgender persons, Nazareth Area Pride may hold an event Saturday at Memorial Library of Nazareth and Vicinity.
Trans 101 functions Evey Winters, a Maryland-based author, activist and advocate for transgender rights. The completely event starts at 1:15 p. m. and is accessible to all generations
Transgender woman Winds may discuss her own activities while also sharing information on challenges that transgender people face, such as poverty and violence. Additionally, Winders will provide useful jargon and ideas, such as the sex distinction.
The celebration is supported by Nazareth Up, a nonprofit that aims to empower underrepresented voices in the community. April Gabriel-Ferretti, chairman of Nazareth Up and an event planner, said Winters ’ browse is an option for community members to gain more knowledge about trans people.
“ In learning, in having some dialogue, there can be better visibility, safety, acceptance for the trans community, ” she said.
Palmer Police Department did have a presence at the function for the safety of spectators, Gabriel-Ferretti said.
