To celebrate Transgender Day of Memory, citizens will congregate on Monday at Stonewall Columbus in the Quick North and King Avenue United Methodist Church on the state’s North Side.
According to the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, GLAAD, the yearly adherence, which takes place on November 20, is intended to honor the memory of transgender people who died as a result of acts of anti-gay crime.

Columbus has long celebrated the evening, and the week before, known as Transgender Awareness Week, events also take place.

The National LGBTQ advocacy organization The Human Rights Campaign has been tracking deaths yearly as a result of anti-trans murder for the past ten years.
It followed at least 26 trans and female non-conforming individuals who were fiercely murdered in 2023.
At least 319 transgender and female non-conforming people have been killed since it started tracking murders in 2013. They are primarily made up of people of colour. According to the Human Rights Campaign, there were 59 overall deaths in 2021, the highest number ever recorded.
