One of the best professional wrestling organizations in the state of Oklahoma was informed in January that a transgender girl might participate in a ring with another woman, according to the state agency that regulates aggressive sports.
Nyla Rose, the star of All Elite Wrestling ( AEW), made the announcement after the Paycom Center’s December match. Rose is the first openly transgender fighter to sign with a significant professional wrestlers organization since signing with AEW in 2019.
Florida-based AEW is the country’s second-biggest advertising behind WWE.
At the Dec. Rose and Alejandra Lion squared off in a fit at the Paycom Center during the 20th annual Ring of Honor advertising. The Oklahoma State Athletic Commission issued a formal notice to AEW a few weeks later.
The Athletic Commission voted unanimously to “warn AEW not to do this repeatedly or there will be punishment against them” ” The announcement was first reported by Authentic Rasslin’.
Another AEW players and local professional wrestlers publicly criticize the Athletic Commission after the news broke this year. Rose made her own sarcastic statement, saying she would “find the haphazard Trans that *checks notes* entertained fans. “
In a phone with reporters on Thursday, AEW President Tony Khan said he was shocked and disappointed.
” I do n’t believe there should be any discrimination against transgender wrestlers or people,” Khan said. ” They have rights, and to that end, I absolutely stand by Nyla Rose. “
Khan said Rose has made a significant contribution to both the wrestling industry and her brother wrestlers. She is an important component of AEW.
” If everybody in the locker room can embrace Nyla, I would hope that the Oklahoma ( State Athletic ) Commission could do the same thing,” he said.
The Athletic Commission was unavailable for opinion.
Oklahoma’s record of problems with trans athletes
The state of Oklahoma’s latest effort to control transgender involvement in sporting events is the warning. Oklahoma’s political rulers have waged a campaign to” conserve children’s sports” by requiring people competing in school-based children’s activities to be born a woman.

The Athletic Commission targeted AEW because Nyla Rose’s female was listed as women on Nyla Rose’s wrestling license software.
According to longtime payment principles, a match between a man and woman will not be sanctioned, regardless of whether it’s expert fighting, mixed-martial art or actually professional wrestling. The goal of professional wrestling matches is planned in advance, unlike other aggressive sports, and are frequently practiced and choreographed before the performance.
Independent wrestling promoter Brandan Bulmer, who hosts events in Oklahoma City with Unified Wrestling Oklahoma, said it should n’t matter whether a person wrestles with another person.
” It’s kind of ridiculous that it’s come to this, and it’s just but really ridiculous,” said Bulmer, who is known by his stage name Drake Gallows. This was unavoidable five years ago. Any gender may play any gender in what are known as mingled label team matches. But then, you know, points are all starting to blur. “
Ruling affects native offers, wrestlers
Bulmer claimed that while he agrees with the Athletic Commission and its goal to protect the health and security of players, his key problem is the uneven application of principles at an event. A female boxer was scheduled by Bulmer for a fight royale match several months prior to the AEW display where Rose performed.
The young woman entered the ring, and she completely destroyed five men. They were beaten out by her. He said that she threw them all out of the circle, and it was only her and one other man.
The other man kicked her out of the band and eliminated her.
” After that event, I was given a warning and I was threatened with a court date, and I was threatened with$ 1,000 fine. And every single one of those people, those five people were given punishments,” Bulmer said.
The trans wrestlers are causing stress among performers due to the Athletic Commission’s position on them, including two trans people who are being trained by Bulmer and who are receiving hormone therapy.
One of them emailed me,” Where do you see me on the cards?” What do I get into? ‘” Bulmer said. ” I ca n’t give them a straight answer because I do n’t know what’s going to happen with all this nonsense. “
According to Bulmer, there are only seven or eight licensed feminine professional wrestlers in Oklahoma right now. With such a small amount, they’ve grown tired of just wrestling each another. Organizers find scheduling more than just two simultaneous difficult, he said.
