Leaders in the LGBTQ+ area are praising Marlon Wayans for officially supporting his trans son and for being honest about his own parenting style.
The National Center for Transgender Equality, the National Centre for Lesbian Rights, and the LGBT Centers in San Francisco and Los Angeles are all applauding the actor, saying that he is setting a great case for the families of trans people.
Realize that Marlon recently revealed that his oldest kid, who is 23 years old and is changing from Amai to Kai, is transsexual and presently identifies as a man.
Marlon refers to Kai as his brother and claims that getting from total neglect to loving and accepting his child required a significant amount of education.
The National Center for Transgender Equality’s executive director, Rodrigo Heng-Lehtinen, tells TMZ,” We celebrate Marlon Wayans supporting his transgender boy and demonstrating to kids outside that acceptance is possible. Allow your child understand that you love and support them no matter what.” It’s incredible that Marlon can serve as an example for other relatives who might not yet comprehend it.
As you are aware, trans rights are currently a hot topic, making Marlon’s understanding even more significant in the eyes of LGBTQ+ communities.
According to Dani Siragusa, chairman of development and connections at the SF LGBT Center,” Marlon’s unequivocal support of Kai is so powerful because our societies need to maintain uplifting stories of trans-affirming love between parents and transgender children, and evil versa,” in the face of anti-trans hate.
Being the family of a transgender child may be depressed, challenging, and perhaps frightening in the current political climate, according to Shannon Minter of the NCLR, who also notes that there are numerous bills being pushed by angry legislators. Wayans has given these families a much-needed ray of hope and light by formally embracing his transgender child. He serves as a potent reminder that all young people require the support and protection of parents.
Marlon is being praised by the L.A. LGBT Center for being open about his trans child and for bringing up the subject in his newest comedy unique,” Rainbow Child,” which is closer to home.
We applaud the Wayans mother’s assurance of gay joy and identification while using humor to hold area around the experience, according to Mariana Marroquin, Associate Director of Trans Wellness at the L.A. LGBT Center.
