Premier King’s Proclamation on the Day of Remembrance for Transgender People | Prince Edward Island Government

Hon. On Transgender Day of Memory, Dennis King, Premier of Prince Edward Island, made the following remarks:

Transgender people who have died as a result of crime, discrimination, or hatred are honored and remembered on November 20 as part of the National Day of Remembrance.

Now is a crucial time to wait, reflect, and gain knowledge of the societal obstacles and prejudice that transgender people encounter every day. No one deserves to live in fear, been threatened, or practice violence or damage, as a community, we must keep in mind that we are all people, regardless of who you worship, love, and how you identify.

We are strongest as a tiny territory when we unite as one. I hope that everyone on the Island takes a moment now to express their assistance, keep learning, and come up to represent acceptance and love for all.

For a better tomorrow, come become understanding, show compassion, and stand in solidarity with our Island transgender society immediately and every day.
