A trans woman and her gaze were beaten, knocked out cold, and taken to the hospital after a man reportedly became enraged after hearing someone insult his manhood dimension. Police are looking into this event.
What began as a fun-filled day at an LGBTQ top gathering in Wynwood ended with pain, cries, and an uncontrollable journey to Jackson Memorial Hospital, according to testimony Kaci Melendez.
According to Melendez’s account of what she told the police, the altercation started late at night on November 26 as she and her group were leaving an Transgender” White Party” and ran into a friend outside in the art district. Melendez claimed to the police that the lady confronted the group of men after the companion became disturbed after hearing” cat-calls” from them.
According to Melendez, accusations flew back and forth during the rhetorical argument, and one of the men mocked the team’s Gay history, implying that lesbians would never have satisfying sexual relations. According to the police document, Melendez’s friend finally informed the alleged attacker that he had a” little penis,” which prompted him to respond by saying that there was another trans woman in the class with testicles.
The statement that is included with this story describes how fast things got out of hand. According to Melendez, the gentleman insulted the woman’s penis and then went ballistic, clobbering her. She hit her head on the concrete after falling to the ground, leaving a pool of blood in her wake.
The group of men and a part of the wounded woman’s group then started fighting.
A video of the incident that was posted online reveals that the transgender woman, who is dressed in white, was struck in the face by a man wearing white t-shirts before being struck again by another person from the group, evidently harder this time. According to Melendez, the girl was not hitting someone and was attempting to end the altercation when she was struck hard, knocking her unconscious and inflicting a serious head injury. ( Some of the people in the video are bystanders and are not charged with any violent crimes. )
According to a Miami Police Department spokesman, investigators are investigating the event to see if it qualifies as an attack on people of color.
Orlando Rodriguez, the SAO Hate Crime Task Force’s director, wrote via message,” We are working with our LGBTQ+ Contact to determine if it rises to the level of a love violence.”
All of the patients requested that their names not been made public while they were healing from their wounds out of respect for their protection. The police statement contains a redaction of their names.
