After being stabbed, a Ugandan LGBT advocate is in important issue.

The most well-known transgender activist in Uganda, Frank Mugisha, stated that he thought bigotry, which is one of the strictest laws in the world, was what drove it.

According to Mugisha, “the intense hatred for sexual minorities that the law unleashed created an environment in which such attacks are occurring.”

The death sentence is prescribed by law for some same-sex acts. It has resulted in the arrest of at least seven people and, according to rights activists, a rise in secret abuse of LGBT people, including murders, torture, and beatings.

The government of Uganda has disputed this and asserted that the legislation is not intended to penalize LGBT Ugandans but rather to criminalize same-sex activity and its promotion.

A complaint alleging that the law violates constitutionally protected rights was heard by a Ugandan court next month. It hasn’t made a decision yet.
