Alabama has the authority to impose a moratorium on gender-affirming care for transgender minors and appeal judge decisions

A federal appeals court has decided that Alabama can start enforcing a ban on the use of hormones and puberty blockers to treat transgender people under the age of 19 in Montgomery, Alabama (AP). The country’s request to halt a preliminary order that prevented Alabama from enforcing the 2022 legislation was granted by the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The restrictions will be able to go into effect right away thanks to the Thursday purchase. The order was referred to as a “major success for our state, for children, and for typical feel” by State Attorney General Steve Marshall. The Alabama restrictions, according to attorneys defending transgender adolescent parents who fought it, did “hurt parents and children in the state.”
