A federal appeals court has decided that Alabama can start enforcing a ban on the use of hormones and puberty blockers to treat transgender people under the age of 19 in Montgomery, Alabama (AP). The country’s request to be a preliminary order that had prevented Alabama from enforcing the 2022 law was granted by the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The restrictions will be able to go into effect right away thanks to the Thursday purchase. The order was referred to as a “major success for our state, for children, and for typical sense” by State Attorney General Steve Marshall. The decision may “hurt parents and children in the state,” according to attorneys representing families of transgender kids who opposed the Alabama restrictions.
