The Russian Boxing Federation (RBF) Secretary General Tatyana Kiriyenko commented on the news that transgender people will be able to compete in women’s competitions starting in 2024.
“It is against the law to permit such behavior in boxing. We uphold traditional values and won’t tolerate them at our boxing competitions. We also observe that, if I may say so, the boxing community is vehemently opposed to such innovations. The International Boxing Association (IBA), led by Umar Kremlev, tests hormones at the international championships, depriving it of the chance to deceitfully produce results.
We follow the exact same set of values. The aforementioned National league does not belong to the IBA, by the way. However, Kiriyenko said for TASS that this does not imply that the boxing community or the athletes themselves will permit them to disparage the illustrious traditions of our beloved sport.
Trans people from the United States must declare their new gender, have sex reassignment surgery, go through monthly hormone testing, and provide information to USA Boxing in order to compete in women’s tournaments.”
