In order to bring their 2024 Visibility Tour to the Sault, Sault Pride and Sault College are partnering with International Day of Pink.
With the participation of transgender symbol creator Monica Helms and social worker therapist Vincent Bolt, this event will take place on March 13 at lunchtime at Sault College.
“We’re the first stop on the tour and the only stop in Northern Ontario this year. We consider ourselves fortunate,” says Sault Pride head Amanda Zuke. Being chosen to host the Visibility Tour staff, especially the one who created such a significant and recognized symbol, is a real honor for our group. Helms, members of the Brunswick Four, singer, reality TV personality, and drag queen Aja may have presentations and discussions at other Visibility Tour events across Canada. Local and regional speakers are also on the tour, including Bolt, a transgender activist from Sudbury who has spoken at other Sault Pride events.
Sault College’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Educator, Kristen Auer, “When Sault Pride reached out to explore the possibility for Sault College to host this event, I eagerly offered our full support.” To our LGBTQ+ students, representation and support are everything. Hosting this event on a school and opening it up to the Sault Ste. Marie area is just one way for us to demonstrate our commitment to this work.
