A statement from GLAAD claims Meta’s lack of protection has allowed anti- trans glad to ‘ bloom’ on Facebook, Instagram and Threads.
GLAAD, an organization dedicated to LGBTQ rights, is criticizing Meta for reportedly failing to stop the multiply of “extreme anti-trans hate content” across its programs.
On websites like Facebook and Instagram, the group shared a report with various instances of this kind of unpleasant content. GLAAD claimed to have received all of the cases through Meta’s reporting techniques.
The lobbying group claims that Meta either responded by saying that the articles did not violate its policies or that it” just did not take action on them.” Meta did not respond to a demand from SiliconRepublic.com for remark at time of publication.
Meta continues to drop off important faith and safety teams as the company’s income soar, according to GLAAD in the statement. It also increasingly relies on ineffectual AI systems for content moderation.
” These long-term anti-LGBT advertising campaigns, spearheaded by the anti-LGBT extremists that Meta allows to flourish on its websites, result in an increasing number of well-documented real-world damages for LGBTQ individuals and different targeted groups,” according to the report.
GLAAD even claims Meta’s absence of police led to “rebukes and problem” from its Oversight Board. This table overturned Meta’s decision last year to remove a Facebook post where a “user targeted transgender people with harsh speech” post.
The report shows several posts on Meta’s platforms that GLAAD claims immediately breach the bank’s policies around concepts such as love conversation, violence, harassment and death posts.
GLAAD says the content include examples of users sharing “extreme anti- trans slurs”, statements designed to get “dehumanising” and material promoting transition treatment.
The report noted that some of these posts use offensive language because it “blatant love discourse that targets all trans people, especially on the basis of gender identity,” in direct violation of Meta’s policies.
When X, when it was known as Twitter, was criticized last year for updating its cruel perform policy to eliminate certain safeguards for its trans users. A column that prohibited “targeted misgendering or deadnaming of transgender people” was removed as part of this change. Final month, this plan appeared to go through again- and- forth changes.
