According to his co-accused during a trial, one of the youth accused of killing transgender student Brianna Ghey “did n’t acknowledge” with transgender and gay people.
The woman accused of stabbing Brianna claimed in court on Tuesday that her co-defendant “had a trouble” with her gender identity. On February 11 of this year, the 16-year-old target was fatally stabbed at Culcheth Linear Park in Warrington, Cheshire.
Due to their shared age of 16, Girl X and Boy Y, who are both 16 years old, are now facing death charges at Manchester Crown Court. During her cross-examination on Tuesday, Girl X revealed to prosecutor Deanna Heer KC that she and Boy Y shared a dream of” torturing and killing someone up.”
Although she denied having killed Brianna, the woman claimed to have found” the entire thing quite interesting.” Ms. Heer even questioned,” You were good friends with Brianna all the way up until she died,” during Tuesday’s cross-examination. You admitted to us that you were aware of her transgender identity and did n’t mind it.
You informed us that Boy Y was having issues. What was his issue?
I’m never sure exactly what his issue was, Girl X admitted to the judge. I simply know that he disagreed with many queer people as well as those who identified as transgender.
Additionally, it was reported by Liverpool ECHO that Boy Y had formerly referred to Brianna as “it” in response to pictures of her that Girl X had sent. By referring to Brianna as it, it was clear that he did n’t like her, Ms. Heer said. Why did you send Boy Y these pictures when it was clear that you were correct—he did n’t like her?
I wanted to show him how she looks, said Girl X. She added that she thought Brianna was “really fascinating” and “quite attractive,” which is why she sent Boy Y the images. Girl X admitted that she did have fantasies about killing Brianna, but she insisted that this was n’t because she was transgender.
Ms. Heer enquired as to whether she believed Brianna to be prettier than you. ” To which she responded, in a sense, “yes.” The solicitor also claimed that Brianna was bullied at school due to her gender identity, which Girl X claimed she was conscious of. Brianna “was rather a prone person,” she concurred.
Both plaintiffs deny the murder charge and place the blame on one another. Girl X claimed that Boy Y enjoyed the idea of killing her because he disliked transgender persons. The test is still ongoing in front of Mrs. Justice Yip. It is anticipated to last between three and four month in full.
The test goes on.
