In response to harsh criticism online, Caitlyn Jenner is reversing her support for Bud Light.
The former Olympian supported Donald Trump’s calls to give the beer company a “second chance” on Monday, which sparked an online barrage of vicious anti-transgender trolling.
Bud Light’s partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney was the subject of a conservative boycott in 2023, which caused sales to drop by 30% since April of that year.
Jenner slammed detractors on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, on Wednesday while reiterating her support for Trump.
On March 27, 2022, Caitlyn Jenner can be seen in West Hollywood, California. On July 18, 2023, Bud Light bottles were seen in a cooler in Baltimore, Maryland. Jenner is withdrawing her support for Bud Light in response to harsh website criticism.
“I. Do not. Care. It’s nothing to me,” the 74-year-old wrote in response to a Daily Beast article about the backlash on social media.
She wrote, “I value women’s diversity of thought and freedom of speech.” “I care about fighting the worship of extreme female philosophy!”
“MORE IMPORTANTLY, I CARE ABOUT SAVING OUR COUNTRY BY ELECTING @realDonaldTrump.”
Caitlyn Jenner and Donald Trump have been contacted by Newsweek for comment.
Trump asked fans to end the boycott campaign against Bud Light and its parent company, Anheuser-Busch InBev, in a post to his social media platform Truth Social on Monday.
Anheuser-Busch is never a Woke company, the 77-year-old wrote. “The Bud Light commercial was an incredible mistake, and for that very large price was paid.
“Trump suggested liberals go after “those companies that are looking to DESTROY AMERICA!” while describing Bud Light as a “Great American company.”
Next month, a Republican fundraiser for Anheuser-Busch will host an event in support of Donald Trump, who owns $5 million in Bud Light property.
Jenner defended Anheuser-Busch InBev on Tuesday, describing them as an “extraordinary American company” on X.
The reality star wrote, “I raced for @AnheuserBusch in the 1980s. I agree with @realDonaldTrump.” Take a look at the company’s track record over the years and what it does for so many Americans.
Jenner acknowledged that the brewing company had “paid a high price” for working with Mulvaney on social media, calling it “a huge mistake.”
She continued, “I think it is time to move forward.” I agree with 45 when I say that we should focus on the big picture.
But, Jenner’s post sparked vicious trolling in the comments section, with user Tom Joyce claiming that Caitlyn had “gone woke.”
“A transgender person claims Bud Light isn’t woke,” Nick D’Agostino said.
Coco wrote, “The lack of self-awareness here is absolutely spectacular.”
“We won’t return without an apology.” While Tom Ferry declared the protest “also on!” all they have to say is “sorry,” said @jcibme.
“They aren’t an American company anymore,” said @MoonHowler71 in reference to the company’s 2008 merger with InBev, a company based in Belgium.
However, some customers agreed with Jenner, writing: “Americans ought to support Americans, period.”
“They do employ a lot of people in St. Louis and other parts of the country,” said @thehighdoge.
Rose remarked, “They made a mistake, forgive and forget.” Socially, we are more important than destroying a business.
Over the years, Jenner’s support for Trump has fluctuated. The Republican Olympic gold medalist supported Trump in the 2016 public election, but he has since come under fire on social media.
Jenner attacked Trump in 2017 after he overruled governmental regulations allowing transgender kids to use restrooms that fit their gender identities.
She criticized his resumption of a ban on transgender individuals enlisting in the military in 2018.
The real estate tycoon’s support was cut off by Jenner, but the two seem to have since patched things up. She and Trump were seen shaking hands at a golf tournament in 2022, and she has since praised Trump numerous times electronically.
