An anti-transgender estimate is being proposed in a newly formed petition for California’s 2024 ballot. The so-called Protect Kids of California Act of 2024 had outlaw gender-affirming child care, mandate that school staff outsource kids to their families, and overturn any prior protections for transgender learners.
According to CapRadio, Protect Kids California first declared its intention to plea for an anti-trans ballot initiative in August and started gathering signatures for the program next year. Jonathan Zachreson, a part of the Sacramento-area Roseville City School District Board of Trustees, founded the organization. He also established Restore California Schools, a group committed to reopening schools during the COVID-19 crisis, according to his X profile.
Zachreson asserted that California’s system” sells fake decisions and fake hope to parents and their kids” during a press conference in August about their plans to restrict the freedom of transgender children, according to comments made by CapRadio. In California, he continued,” This act of sits has been sold to many young people, especially young women.”
These remarks probably make reference to the fact that California has some of the strongest safeguards against transgender people, including trans children. The condition, which offered legal protections to minors and their caregivers who immigrate to California to seek gender-affirming treatment, was the first” sanctuary condition” for trans youth. Nine LGBTQ+ privileges bills were signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom in September. These bills mandated that public schools have at least one all-gender restroom, establish the legal right to privacy for minors who legally change their gender or sexual identifiers, and require teachers to receive LGBTQ++ skills training.
California is never, however, a shelter for transgender children everywhere. Conventional activists have recently introduced district-level policies that would compel faculty to out-students to their parents. In August, Chino Valley Unified School District, one of those college towns, was sued by California Attorney General Rob Bonta for violating both express civil rights law and the California Constitution.
