On Tuesday night, the Sacramento City Council will vote on a quality that would designate it as a sanctuary city for transgender people, including adolescents. A significant Democrat-Socialist business has given the bill the seal of approval.
The solution, which was spearheaded by Sacramento City Councilmember Katie Valenzuela, a Democrat, would shield skilled professionals who perform gender transition surgeries from any “attempts to impose criminal punishment,” including legal responsibilities or subjection out-of-state laws that restrict for treatments.
California has been a chief in defending transgender people’s access to healthcare, but some states are moving in the opposite direction, according to the solution. It is crucial for the City of Sacramento to become proactive in reaffirming its dedication to transgender rights and equal protections for trans people by declaring ourselves a sanctuary area and a place of safety for trans people in planning for potential legislation that may prosecute those providing or seeking gender-affirming care and given the Council’s stated values of equity and inclusion.
This year, VIRGINIA COUNTY DECLARES TRANSGENDER DAY OF VISIBILITY ON EASTER.
Following a special presentation declaring this week” transgender week of visibility,” the council will vote on the resolution on Tuesday at 5 p.m. PST.
The Sacramento chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America endorsed the resolution last week in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
The council’s resolution comes two years after Democratic Gov. The Golden State is now a sanctuary state for transgender children, according to a law passed by Governor Gavin Newsom that also stops criminalizing medical professionals who perform gender transition surgeries or administer hormones to minors.
A bill that would make Maine a sanctuary state for transgender surgical procedures and abortions is currently being considered by the state legislature.

NEBRASKA GOVERNOR TIGHTENS RESTRICTIONS ON MINIMAL GENDER TRANSITION TREATMENTS
Conservative states have begun enacting laws that enact restrictions on both surgical and nonsurgical transgender procedures for minors. States such as Idaho, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Alabama and Florida have made it a felony to perform surgical procedures, such as sex changes, on minors or provide them with any gender- transition drugs.
For transgender people and children, a number of more liberal states have passed” shield laws” to protect these procedures and gender-transfer drugs. Those states include California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, New York, Vermont, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Maryland, Illinois and Massachusetts.
Additionally, medical associations are in favor of expanding access to gender transition surgical procedures for transgender children. The American Psychological Association ( APA ) released a new policy earlier this month that calls for clinics to offer “unobstructed access” to gender-transitioning treatments for children.
The website of the American Medical Association ( AMA ) also mentions that “enhancing access to gender-affirming care is a significant means of improving health outcomes for the transgender population.”
