- The ultra-conservative part of Utah’s State Board of Education, Natalie Cline, has now received a beating from the Republican governor of the state as well as the proponent of stifling anti-transgender girls in school activities legislation.
A well-known Utah school board member is being asked to resign after posting a photo of an 18-year-old female basketball player and implying that she wasn’t biologically female.
The Republican governor of Utah, lieutenant governor, and even the author of the country’s strict anti-transgender girls in school sports costs have then slammed Natalie Cline, an extremely conservative state board of education member.
The 50-year-old Cline has since expressed regret for the post, which was a screenshot of flyers for scribble teams for high school girls in Salt Lake City and was captioned, “Girls ‘basketball.” It’s a modest girl in question.
Now that Cline’s families have spoken up, they are urging her to step down from her position.
The university has been forced to give the girl additional security as a result of the article, according to The Salt Lake City Tribune. According to the paper, Cline’s remarks sparked a torrent of threats and online speculation, with some even formally naming the girl.
The girl’s mother, Rachel van der Beek, stated in an interview with KSL- TV that her child is a “girl” who has her own “fashion.”
State Representative Kera Birkeland, a Republican who has fought to forbid trans women from participating in high school sports, was one of those who commented on Cline’s initial article.
Has anyone contacted the scholar, their kids, or the school? Do you know whether this child is male or female? Birkeland remarked in the comments, This baby is a small being mocked and called out without any information or proof.
One commenter asked, “Why do the ladies no all wander off the court?” Wow! It appears that their ring has significantly improved their stats, another person remarked while tying to a website that linked the player to the team.
After being passed in 2022, Birkeland’s bill was swiftly litigated. According to the Tribune’s record, there have since been instances where natural female teenagers have been mistaken for transgender people.
Cline’s explanation has drawn criticism as well.
She does, like her parents, have a larger create. Because of the effort to restore transsexuals in our community, she wrote, “we live in strange instances when it is standard to pause and ponder if individuals are what they say they are.”
“I have removed the post to defend the person.” Cline continued, My sincere apologies for the unfavorable notice my post attracted to honest students and their families.
Parents of the adolescent sat down with KSL- Screen for an interview about Cline’s deeds.
I don’t think it’s appropriate to assume someone is playing in the right arena based solely on their outward appearance, Rachel said.
Her father described the statement as “cyberbullying at its best.”
Composer Al van der Beek continued, “She wears clothes that are a little big, she cuts her hair little because that’s how she feels pleasant, and she works out frequently to build muscle.”
Rachel continued by saying that she “butted eyes” with her daughter because of her fashion sense and what was deemed “normal.”
She remarked, “As I encouraged her, therefore she started to flourish and her character started coming out.”
The parents talked about the consequences of Cline’s article to their child.
We simply took her to another place and began speaking the truth to her. She claimed that after reading the post, we began informing her about the support even though we didn’t tell her what people were saying.
The family resides in a neighborhood west of Salt Lake City. Two more kids are born to them.
The couple then called Cline to ask her to resign and to apologize in front of the people in a way that wasn’t just posted on Instagram.
What if our daughter internalized this and didn’t have that strong character, our support, and the support of the community? In the worst case situation, she might have committed suicide, Al said.
His family continued, “I want all the children to realize it’s okay to be who they are.”
In a joint statement with Lt. Governor Deirdre Henderson, Utah Governor Spencer Cox, who has forbade non-biological women from using children’s restrooms in provincial buildings, criticized Cline for her actions.
We were shocked to learn about the despicable actions taken immediately by board member Cline and another toward a high school student. An elected national nagging our kids on social media is the absolute last thing they need.
Unfortunately, board member Cline has embarrassed the state of Utah and the State Board of Education numerous times.
We commend Granite School District for acting quickly to ensure this person’s health and well-being, and we urge the State Board of Education to keep her guilty, the statement read.
Since being elected to her position on the board in 2020, Cline has frequently targeted LGBTQ+ organizations as well as the Black Lives Matter movement.
Another time, she accused a professor in front of the public of indoctrinating students in the idea that “socialism is preferable to our system of government.”
After Cline claimed that state schools were involved in the “grossing of children for sexual trafficking,” the board of education cleared her in August 2023 as a result of an internal investigation.
Cline has been actively involved in the fight for religious liberty, pro-life policy, and family-friendly education plan for the past ten years, according to her recognized report on the board’s website. She has advocated for parental rights, pupil data privacy, and the preservation of our children’s innocence directly.
Cline claims to be a licensed nurse who has been employed in Haiti following the earthquake of 2010
Natalie enjoys reading, riding, agriculture, serving, and spending time with her husband, kids, or grandchildren. The report also states that “Natalie’s community is her greatest delight and finest accomplishment.”
She claimed that by allowing children easy accessibility to obvious, strange, and twisted erotic material and brainwashing them into queer, female bending ideologies, “schools” are aiding and encouraging this cruel practice.
As of Wednesday, the board of education claimed that it had not yet received a formal issue about Cline.
Utah is one of at least 12 Republican-led claims that have passed laws prohibiting transgender women or girls from participating in sports on the grounds that it gives them an unfair competitive edge.
Advocates for transgender rights argue that the laws aren’t just about sports but also a means of demeaning and attacking young people of color.
