Every action on a West Loop dance floor on Sunday was an expression of freedom and identity. CHICAGO ( WLS )
Zahara Bassett, the founder and CEO of Life Is Job, said,” We created this purely out of bringing areas up.”
The colorful ballroom competition’s surroundings were crusaders for giving transgender people a safe place to be who they truly were.
The purpose of this event, according to Bassett, is to bring and up those we have lost from the safe havens of hall and move performance because” we are tired of feeling lower, feeling like we always have to grieve.”
To mark the approaching Transgender Day of Remembrance, Chicago LGBTQ companies Life is Work, Brave Space Alliance, and Chicago Therapy Collective banded up.
Everyone present now is experiencing love and a sense of renewal. On so many levels, it’s been a very challenging year, but as we prepare for tomorrow, we need all of our hearts. Iggy Ladden, senior director of the Chicago Therapy Collective, said,” We need a lot of strength.”
To motivate and encourage the transgender community and their followers, the companies held a free occasion in the West Loop on Sunday afternoon.

We can reclaim this day in this manner. Typically, this day is designated for mourning, grief, and stuff like that. We also want to adopt resilience, said Jae Rice, the Brave Space Alliance’s deputy CEO, adding that we should remember our trans siblings who have passed away.
The eyes of trans people whose lives had been lost to prejudice or murder were painted on the venue’s walls.
At least 26 transgender and female non-conforming individuals have been killed so far this year, according to the Human Rights Campaign.
The reported figures, according to protesters, do not accurately depict what they refer to as an “epidemic of crime.”
You have to understand that there is more when we hear about transgender incidents. Because there are so many instances where transgender individuals are misgendered and they are not counted as a trans death, Rice said,” That’s really more murder being inflicted upon us.”
The agencies represented at the celebration on Sunday claim to be fighting the hatred that is destroying their neighborhood.
Their goal is to improve the life of trans people.
We genuinely think that if we can give people access to the resources they so desperately need, we might be able to reduce the death rate and prevent another Trans Day of Remembrance, according to Bassett.
