Cole Beasley, an NFL wide receiver, was the latest to weigh in on the Caleb Williams finger conversation. And he wasn’t mincing words.
The outspoken free agent claimed that he is “not with the boys painting their fingers.” As if there is a march on Washington to demand fingernail-painting rights.
Williams, the presumed second pick in this year’s NFL Draft, often paints his fingertips. He was recently seen sporting vibrant red nail polish at a Women’s NCAA Tournament game. Some have cried foul. Some, like NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt, have responded with an exasperated roll of the eyes.
Beasley doubled down when a fan suggested that people were “disappointed that someone they like as a player judges others for something that doesn’t seem worth judging.”

Our regular handbook is jam-packed with everything from heated locker rooms to important LGBTQ sports issues.
“If we weren’t living in a world where everyone is trying to make it acceptable for a child to suddenly become a female, ‘yo it’d be diverse,'” Beasley wrote. “Williams is never attempting to avoid the perception that he is a woman.”
Next, Beasley repeated the unsubstantiated nonsense about a gang trying to turn children into animals.
“Or a rabbit or a puppy. In a world where they’re attempting to reward bravery for pretending to be someone you’re not. In a universe that’s becoming more and more confusing every day, I’m trying to raise children.”
It’s an unusual take, especially for a person who wears his hair in a ponytail.
The notion of children turning into animals is similar to what we heard from NBC’s NFL commentator and former coach Tony Dungy last year. Dungy claimed that schools were installing large litter boxes for kids who believed they were cats at the time.
Moreover, Beasley’s assertion about normalizing suicide is false. There is absolutely no widespread support for it, despite the efforts of small fringe groups. Pedophilia is and will continue to be unacceptable.
Beasley is likely glossing over the false claim that drag queens encourage suicide because they read books to children. A person dressed in drag reading Dr. Seuss to children is not promoting suicide. It’s appalling that an NFL player would endorse this baseless accusation.
He had a previous discussion on X about nail polish that garnered a lot of comments. So the conversation isn’t new for him. The statements about turning children into animals and the baseless promotion of pedophilia certainly take it to a new level.
Beasley seems to be positioning himself for the 2024 season. Whoever drafts Williams can likely safely assume that they won’t be signing Beasley anytime soon.
