The Family Policy Alliance is perhaps the most powerful traditional Christian organization that most Americans have never heard of.
Founded four decades ago by Focus on the Family, the volunteer serves as Focus’ public policy companion, promoting its political mission in 41 states.
CEO Craig DeRoche made his yearly appearances on Andrew Wommack’s Truth and Liberty Coalition TV show in March to provide an unflinching overview of FPA’s function and its plan for the cultural warfare that may affect the 2024 election and beyond.
A fundraising appeal on FPA’s 2024 elections website states that “we can influence key races all across the nation but we need crucial vote designated dollars to do so.” “Support Christians cast their light. It takes assets to get elections.”
FPA is ecstatic about victories on a variety of fronts, including those involving drag shows, IVF, and transgender rights in sports and health care. (Some of these laws are facing legal challenges.)
Its targets include a war against online video, “eradicating” pregnancy and IVF, and reshaping position parliament and public school board.
DeRoche and show host Richard Harris claimed in their March interview that “Satan” guides voters and government officials who oppose their agenda, which is in line with “the demon onslaught that’s happening in our culture” and “literally evil prowling on this earth.”
At a glance
The Family Policy Alliance, which is headquartered on Focus’ Colorado Springs campus, oversees a community of 41 intellectually allied state agencies, including new companions this year in Oklahoma and Maryland.
Together, the network employs more than 350 people and has revenue of more than $50 million. FPA says it has a system of 50,000 temples.
DeRoche stated on the program that “FPA is a Christian organization that advances legislation to safeguard your home.” Instead of attempting to determine how to live our lives and to increase our babies where we live, we bring that to Washington.
He continued, “It’s time for us to acknowledge where we are right now in this conflict in America.” It’s not the end period where we’re losing. It’s the beginning’s close where we can recapture our nation for our country’s freedom and the Lord.
A new conflict on video
In 1986, After James Dobson served on Ronald Reagan’s 1986 Attorney General’s Commission on Pornography, Dobson declared the war against smut a “winnable battle”. A century later, the online made video readily available online.
FPA says its key policy rely for 2024 is “protecting children from sex” through state regulations that work to “effectively opened off” video access.
In 2024, seven states have already passed the FPA’s type policy, following seven that did so the previous year. In Kansas, the Focus-aligned Family Research Council is promoting one of these bills.
“FPA was able to arrange a partnership of allied companies, legislators, and expert testimony all committed to working up,” says its site. The Center for Renewing America, a group that is affiliated with Trump and targets conservative Christians and Christian patriots, is one of its companions.
DeRoche stated that the goal was to make video “unavailable unless you set up a complicated virtual private network, which is challenging.”
Restricting activities and transgender attention.
In 22 states that restrict transgender medical treatment and place a threat on those who provide such treatment, FPA is the world’s leading advocate of legislation, according to BNG’s report from last year. In 20 states, transgender students are prohibited from participating in athletics in schools.
“I want to suggest this out of love, no pleasure, but it has fallen on us to be one of the major companies,” DeRoche said. We were the group that really developed those laws and began promoting them on state and local rates.
“DeRoche warned against a devilish conspiracy to entice America’s kids into physical vices.”
DeRoche warned against a devilish plot to entice children into physical perversions: “Our open schools and our state officials seem to want to get the spider’s place by whispering in our children’s ears and giving them these evil off-ramps.”
DeRoche even sees the social power of pro-trans legislation.
“People, this is the biggest factor of any democratic movement I’ve ever seen in my living,” he said, celebrating FPA’s successes. “We overrode five rulers in the last 18 months, three of them were Democratic governors.
“This is something to arrange about. To create our movement around this, we must call out the bad one and stop him from moving in his tracks.
DeRoche compared deliberate transgender medical treatments to the 40-year spontaneous study involving hundreds of Black people that infringed on some people, caused many deaths, and sparked outcry that led to policy requiring informed consent in clinical experiments.
“That’s what I think physicians are doing to our kids right now,” he said.
DeRoche also compared the political activism of FPA to the 1960s legal rights fight, claiming that the action “started” when the body of Christ appeared.
At the time, most pale conservatives opposed civil rights. Now, both Focus and FPA oppose Critical Race Theory, which Focus says extends “lies perpetuated by religious shadow” and “wokeness.”
Halting IVF and pregnancy
“Roe v Wade being overturned wasn’t the end of abortion in America, but it was the beginning of the end of abortion in America,” DeRoche said”. With the Supreme Court’s intervention then, people, we have a chance to end pregnancy. … It might take us many times. It might take us a couple of years. But we’re going to get.”
Since Roe was overturned, six says put abortion access on their vote. Bucking the pattern FPA hopes for, pregnancy entry won easily in all six: California, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Vermont, and Ohio.
In 2024, more than a few states may include abortion access on their votes, including Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota.
“It might take us some times. It might take us a couple of years. But we’re going to succeed.”
Social economists predict victories for pregnancy exposure at the ballot box, but DeRoche claims that’s a fake” communist tale.”
He said liberals” get into it and it causes us to solitude ourselves. We give in to the leftist tale that” You’re hurting people.” And of course, it’s going to split their path when we’re not even in the battle “instead of” articulating a pro-life position, which people you respect and get behind.”
DeRoche blamed recent GOP election
losses on poor candidates, not Roe.” He claimed that the American people were n’t suddenly very upset about Roe v. Wade’s reverse.
Comparing the fight against abortion to the battles against slavery and for suffrage, DeRoche said overturning Roe resulted in 30, 000, 60, 000, or 100, 000 cases of” human beings that are now on this earth and weren’t murdered in the womb. That’s something we can rejoice over.”
However, a study from the Society of Family Planning, a group that supports abortion access, claimed that the number of abortions performed in the United States is currently” so close to identical to or even higher than the rate before Roe was overturned.
FPA also opposes access to the abortion drug mifepristone:” It’s against our Constitution. It’s against our 14th Amendment. It’s against our statutes, our mail statutes. Additionally, our FDA has never approved it. So we’re living in this bit of an alternative reality.”
DeRoche also claimed that the Alabama Supreme Court’s February decision declaring frozen embryos children was a very appropriate decision. The decision to stop in-vitro fertilization was overturned because it frequently results in the destruction of unused fetuses.
He said,” They had these excess human beings that they thought they could just discard.” You shouldn’t be able to do that anywhere in their nation. Please take into account that people are making millions and millions of dollars if you want to understand the IVF and abortion industries.
Training conservative Christian activists
When conservative Republican officials aren’t conservative enough, what do you do? FPA has an impact on government officials who will use two training initiatives to advance its agenda.
“Shape our nation,” says an FPA fundraising appeal”. We’re training our nation’s rising leaders to boldly stand for godly principles. Give now to support these worthwhile initiatives and encourage a new generation of American leaders in the name of Jesus!
The Statesman Academy trains GOP candidates and officials” for successful policymaking. Christian legislators can feel alone in today’s hostile political environment, and in the face of a combative media.”
The academy now claims graduates serving in 36 state legislatures, including a state speaker of the House and two members of the U.S. Congress. Its alumnus Rep. Jim Banks of Indiana is expected to win his Senate race in November.
You can count on several hundred of your neighbors standing up for right and good if you watch this show and your school board is woken up.
The School Board Academy of FPA is now looking for more students and claims graduates from 33 states. If you know local school board members, send them our way,” DeRoche said.
“Mark my words: wherever you live, if you’re watching this show, if your school board goes woken up, you can count on several hundred of your neighbors standing up for good.” It’s just too bad that it takes us that far and allows the evil one to have that much rope before the people return.
Colorado a bad state
Richard Harris, a pastor who serves as the Truth and Liberty Coalition’s executive director, thanked FPA’s mentors and supporters for their guidance.
What a blessing they have been throughout our brief time together, Harris observed. The Coalition was established in 2017.
The two Christian leaders painted a grim picture of Colorado’s politics, saying the state government is trying to force pro-LGBTQ speech in indoctrination.
“I actually think Colorado maybe descended faster than other states,” DeRoche said”, but it means it can snap back faster.”
Public education isn’t any better.
“When a parent tried to have sex with you, you could call the police on them in the’ 70s or ‘ 80s or ‘ 90s,” DeRoche said”. Right now, they’re saying, no, go back in the class and let the teacher do whatever they want with your kids.”
“They have crossed the line that parents know how to react to you right now,” he continued”. Your constitutional rights as a parent are currently being violated. It’s a violation of your child’s constitutional rights. It’s a violation of their civil rights, of justice, liberty, and equality.”
“It’s time that we pop their balloon, show up at the meetings, and change everything everywhere we can in Colorado,” DeRoche declared”. We want you to rise up, folks. This is our opportunity. And I’m excited.”
