Since the library incident and later bomb threat in August of last year, it has raised both the status of the regional Moms for Liberty Chapter and its president. That both Beth Bourne’s persona and the area were highly praised.
However, it was unclear whether that would lead to the group’s own scheme successes. Many people continued to argue that there was some kind of silent majority despite the fact that it appeared improbable.
If there is – they are really silent.
The nearby city piece duty was the focus of Bourne and some ‘ campaigns, contending that” the days of splendor of this District are gone.” Instead of teaching the fundamentals of civics, math, and science, they are more concerned with encouraging kids with gender-sex ideology and anti-parent policies.
With more than 68 percent of the vote, the measure was still in favor, and the information did not appear to have gained any support.
Davis was generally a strange location to use a social war tactic. In this country, Trump did not lose 15 % of the ballot in 2020.
Woodland, who is not nearly as orange as Davis, might have been a better evaluation.
Last month, Woodland School Board member called” transsexuality” a” social disease”.
She was recalled by the neighborhood. The recall frustrating succeeded. The remember was approved with 63.6 % of the vote despite MacDonald resigning last week after seeing the writing on the wall. A very solid reject of that position.
What’s impressive, however, is that even as we go to less orange and even dark parts of the state there is a rejection of this tradition war information.
Of course, Orange County has always been the center of red California, but in recent years it has grown more blue.
Two conservative members of the Orange County School Board were fired in March recalls that placed LGBTQ+ policies at the center of the controversy.
The centerpiece of Orange Unified School District’s parent-notification policy, which mandates educators to inform parents when a student requests to be identified as” a gender other than the student’s biological sex or the gender listed on the birth certificate or any other official records,” was a standard red state proviso passed.
Although the attorney representing the state’s elected official is coming down from Sacramento, AG Rob Bonta has filed legal challenges to such laws brought forth by a few conservative-leaning school boards. This is a local voting group that said, enough.
The recall was a” first litmus test on the resonance with voters of issues that have roiled school boards throughout the country: the teaching of racism and Black history, the rights of LGBTQ+ youth versus the rights of their parents, the restrictions on LGBTQ+ symbols and related curriculum, and the removal of library books with sexual content, especially LGBTQ+ content, from school libraries,” according to The LA Times.
The Times added,” In such education tilts, Ledesma, a veteran school board member, and Miner, a newcomer, were warriors who took high- profile, aggressively conservative stands in front of cheering audiences of the like- minded. Some district parents were present, but many of the board’s most obscene meeting in September were religious conservatives without children attending public schools, including some from well outside the community.
The message is becoming clear. This stuff is n’t going to fly in California. Additionally, you could face recall and battle with the Governor and AG if you attempt it.
Even as we move to more reddened areas of the state, like Shasta County.
The fate of a second far-right crusader on the powerful Board of Supervisors is still in the balance, according to a report from The LA Times earlier this week.
The Times noted,” Patrick Jones, a former chair of the five- member board, was soundly defeated in the Super Tuesday election, according to results released by the county registrar Friday afternoon. With 98 % of the vote counted, Jones ‘ opponent, Matt Plummer, a nonprofit advisor, was winning outright with nearly 60 % of the vote”.
In a one-term run as a leading voice in an ultraconservative revival that transformed this largely rural Northern California county into a national symbol of hard-right governance and election denialism, they continued,” It was a stunning turn for Jones, a gun store manager who has emerged as a leading voice in an ultraconservative insurgence.”
Meanwhile a key ally, Supervisor Kevin Crye, “was surviving a recall election by just 46 votes. Crye made headlines last year when he enlisted the support of Mike Lindell, the MyPillow ceo and pro-Trump election denier, to nix Dominion machines.
Then there’s Temecula.
The county announced on January 22, 2024, that a recall election for Une 4 would be held after enough signatures had been verified.
The “forced outing policy” that the board considered particularly comprehensive was one that required “schools to notify parents, with minimal exceptions, whenever a student requests to use a name or pronoun other than that on their birth certificate or official records, even without the student’s consent and when doing so would put them in danger of harm.”
If a student requests to use facilities or participates in programs that do n’t match their gender or sex on official records, the policy also requires notification.
In support of a lawsuit, AG Bonta filed an Amicus brief alleging that the enactments constituted constitutional violations for students.
” Schools have an obligation to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment, with curricula that reflect the contributions of California’s diverse communities,” said Attorney General Bonta”. The policies of Temecula Valley Unified, which forbids inclusive curriculum and forcibly outlaws transgender and gender-nonconforming students, focus on California’s most vulnerable students, severely affecting their well-being and academic success. My office will continue to fight any measures that threaten students ‘ civil rights in the face of ongoing attacks in California and throughout the country.
” You’re seeing more and more political types showing up on these schools boards,” said Jeff Pack, co- founder of the One Temecula Valley PAC, who supports the recall of Komrosky”. And you’re now seeing people back down on that.
They claim that we do n’t want politicians serving on school boards; instead, we want people who are doing everything for the children, the students, the staff, and the teachers that we adore.
One interesting story made the observation that “many of the people who signed the recall petition were conservative.”
According to Pack,” They may believe more traditional values should be held at the board level, but they claimed they did n’t sign up to fight against the government, attack teachers, and assault children for exercising their rights.”
” They just want ( board members ) to do what’s right for Temecula. And to ensure that children receive the best possible education at the board level. If you’re not doing that, and you’re just creating bogeymen to scare people and try to feel like you’re accomplishing something, that’s just not going to work for very long.”
Although the Temecula recall has not yet taken place, those who argue that schools should concentrate on fundamental educational goals do n’t actually get distracted by those goals.
Some of the supporters had assumed that this would be the opposite of the wedge issue that some of them had.
