People of a brand-new gender identity advisory council were appointed by the Quebec government to address gender-related problems.
This comes after the CAQ pledged to form a committee in response to protests against gender identity in institutions taking place across the nation.
The committee’s dearth of representation, but, worries a trans person in Quebec.
Trans advocate Celeste Trianon stated to City News,” The government does not believe transgender people.” They believe that we are a group that needs to be subjected to legal tutoring, at least in its most basic form. Additionally, there is a shortage of confidence in the government and the people who are most affected by this. Discrimination against transgender people is at an all-time high right now.
It’s the same thing as having a commission on abortion that is only made up of cisgender heterosexual people.
Suzanne Roy, the secretary of people for Quebec, announced a three-person advisory committee on Tuesday. The agency’s objectives include creating a community to discuss upcoming government decisions, building an information base, and easing social unrest.
The council will function with the Conseil québécois LGBT, a group of 70 organizations that support trans and non-binary people, to support these initiatives.
Trianon said,” I know the great mandate is fighting deception, which I definitely do have to congratulate the government on, but at the same period, current social climate, it’s pretty much scary.” People do n’t feel secure.
In September, education secretary Bernard Drainville suggested setting up a committee to look into Quebec’s sex personality problems. This came after he asked a class in northern Quebec to change its mind about implementing gender-neutral restrooms.

Diane Lavallée, the union boss of the original FIQ nurses, Dr. Jean-Bern Trudeau, a former assistant director general at the Quebec College of Physicians, and Patrick Taillon ( a lawyer and professor ), are on the three-person advisory council.
