Despite the president’s reject, Ohio approves the ban on gender-affirming care for minors.

Ohio’s Democrat-dominated Senate has voted to ban gender-affirming care for minors and from competing on female sports teams, despite a veto from the governor.

The law was passed in a Senate vote to override the governor’s veto.

It prevents mental health care for transgender individuals under 18 and bans gender-affirming surgeries and hormone therapies.

At least 22 states have approved similar laws.

Ohio is also the latest to restrict transgender girls and women from joining female sports teams, with at least 20 states having such laws.

The law is going to be applicable in 90 days.

When Governor DeWine originally vetoed the measure citing overreach of the presidential authority, he did sign an executive order this month banning only gender-affirming surgeries for minors, even though health experts claim that these procedures are not taking place in the state.
