Guest remark: Democrats may tone it down on trans activities

When questioned whether abortion should be permitted in the first trimester, seven in ten Americans (69%) responded yes. Seven in ten Americans (69%) responded in the affirmative — up from 62% in 2021 when asked whether athletes who compete should be allowed to play only on teams that match their gender at birth.

When it comes to pregnancy, Democrats say the state may heed the call of the majority. However, when it comes to athletes, which teams merely correspond to those whose biological sex is present? They occasionally go so far as to describe those who hold the majority as being nothing less than misogynistic.

Before proceeding further, don’t mistake me for a member of Moms for Liberty. I was cheered earlier this month when a settlement was reached that led to a partial lifting of the “Don’t Say Gay” cloud in Florida. It was a violent law. At least then a child with two fathers can openly talk about his family in public.

I oppose laws that prohibit gender-affirming maintenance in solidarity with the American Academy of Pediatrics. When a person receives reproductive care, the state doesn’t belong in that doctor’s office, which gives its type in the same way it does in a doctor’s office. And no, Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisconsin, it’s not “creepy” when trans people use children’s rooms. We must stop excluding trans girls and women.

Things like gender-affirming care, the ability to use desired adjectives, and the ability to employ bathrooms that reflect one’s gender identity make transgender people who they were meant to be.

In the following instances, however, no one else may be denied a good playing area or personal achievement because of an intrinsic real difference. In competitive sports, this is not the situation. Especially in women’s and children’s activities.

Differentiating between a person’s system from a figure from a person who was born a woman and a system from a man who underwent a gender transition. And this is something that all Americans are aware of.

The majority of people won’t be persuaded by the medical field, the sports industry, politicians, or anyone else that hormonal adjustments can be made to ensure that all female athletes who were born in the world will have equal access to the same level of education. Rightly or wrongly.

Because it is just as well-liked with Americans as abortion, the Republican-controlled Legislature ended the session with Bills 377 and 378, which restrict contribution for transgender players. In both cases, 69% of people approve. While many proponents of the costs may be afraid of trans people, not all are. I’m definitely not.

I am hardly a “perfect Gay ally”. Only as I am not a “perfect environmentalist”, or a “perfect liberal”.

Given these unsustainable situations, children can survive without being able to play for the sports staff of their choosing. What they can’t make it without is love and acceptance.

Fellow Dems, I’m calling bad. In our discussions of those who oppose transgender participation in girls’ and women’s sports, we should be more sarcastic. When I say that I’m not convinced testosterone suppression therapy guarantees a sufficient amount of playing area for girls, I’m not engaging in a nasty, transphobic assault.

It’s wrong to give the impression that the majority of the population wishes they didn’t exist to our frightened transgender youth. Keep fighting for them, but lower the individual problems.
