Implementing knowledge about the LGBTQ+ group might “give kids a chance.”

We will see if this will actually be implemented, but it is really essential to have the minister of education bring this up. It is particularly essential if we consider the places around us – Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland where things seem to be going forward for the LGBTQ+ area. ”

Particularly given the circumstances of Bohemian society, such as the fact that same-sex marriage is not permitted in this country, it seems like a significant step forward for the education system to address these issues.

“Exactly, and I believe it sends Czech society a message that we should n’t treat the LGBTQ+ community the way other nations I mentioned in the area are. ”

I want to briefly discuss the opposition. Even though this was merely a conversation brought up by the education minister, MP Zdeněk Kettner said that the LGBTQ+ community has “no traditional justification”, basically saying that this does n’t have a place in the education system around in Czechia. What do you produce of these opinions?

“ I can’t say it differently, it ’s really just BS. If you look at this generally, of course the LGBTQ+ area has a background and has been around long – we really did n’t see them because they were hiding who they were for fear of persecution. When we consider the Holocaust or the Second World War, LGBTQ+ individuals were victims of the same crimes that were committed against Jews, Roma, and other areas in concentration camps. Additionally, during socialism, the group was persecuted and forced to hide in our nation. ”

Although it raises a significant issue, where do you believe the Bohemian society’s opposition to discussing these subjects stems from?

“ I don’t think it ’s resistance from society, because if we look at surveys, the vast majority of our population is quite okay with the LGBTQ+ community and want to give us equal rights – marriage, and the ability for gay people to adopt children. It is essentially just the officials and lobby groups that try to repress this and go against the course of world.

They may have some social details because they believe their citizens may be similar to their own fears and beliefs, which they do because of. It can be both of these items, but I think if they would be more affordable, they could rely on more democratic details and help from community for supporting the LGBTQ+ area. ”

Why would it be helpful if the LGBTQ+ group were taught in Czech classrooms?

“ I think it ’s very significant, especially for gay children who are sitting in the classroom. The teacher would suddenly be instructing about a person like them, and when they were discussed in a more historical and positive context, they would n’t feel that way anymore. It might inspire children to face their identity because perhaps they have n’t come out yet but are considering it. I believe it would encourage children to feel much better about themselves and show other learners that being gay is not unrequited and something we should all honor. This would also help to stop bullying in classrooms. ”
