After Dave Chappelle targeted her community once again, a well-known transgender actress decided to mock him with satire.
In his latest Netflix special, The Dreamer, the comedian gained notoriety for jokes he made about trans people.
Recently getting into controversy for his divisive comments, Chappelle spent the second half of The Dreamer “punching down” on transgender people.
“If you thought I was going to make fun of those people again when you came to this show tonight, you guys are at the wrong show. I’m not f****** with those people anymore. It wasn’t worth the trouble. I ain’t saying s*** about them,” said Chappelle.
Critics and social media commentators questioned why Chappelle continued to talk about trans people as he went on with a series of other jokes and targeted disabled individuals.
Trace Lysette, best known for her role in Transparent on Prime Video, posted a joke about it on TikTok.
Lysette insinuated that Chappelle had previously been a client of transgender sex workers, saying, “So at this point, it’s giving client.”
“I really don’t know which doll [trans sex worker] hurt Dave Chappelle. But it’s giving a frustrated client, an angry trick,” she said.
She captioned, “You ain’t fooling nobody Dave.”
Newsweek reached out to Chappelle’s representatives for comment.
Lysette, a former sex worker, continued to ponder Chappelle’s jokes.
“It’s giving, he wanted to kiss her on the mouth, and she was like, ‘No, I don’t do that; I upcharge for that, you have to give me x, y, z.’ And he was like, ‘Oh no, ma’am.’ Oh my god, who then goes on to make three comedy specials about the dolls because you can’t take it? His ego was bruised, honey, so he went on a rampage,” Lysette continued.
She concluded, “Get him some help.”
Lysette also mocked Chappelle’s appearance in The Dreamer in another video, particularly his “banana-powder-deluxe-coordinate show.”
Lysette likened the appearance to what she claims some trans sex clients often want to dress in women’s clothing and have their makeup done to spend the night as “one of the girls.”
“It’s either that, or the butch queen who did his makeup said, ‘I’m gonna set his ass up,'” Lysette joked.
Finally, she posted her video on X, formerly Twitter, captioning it “it’s just jokes right”? using Chappelle’s own defense of his material against him.
The Closer, a Netflix special by Chappelle, led to walkouts at the streaming giant in 2021 after staff members claimed it contained transphobic material.
Chappelle addressed those comments in a follow-up Netflix special titled What’s in a Name? claiming that the students who criticized him were “instruments of oppression.”
