A 50-year-old transgender swimmer competed in children’s activities and shared a locker room with kids this month in Canada, prompting the families of young female athletes to speak up.
Following the 2023 Trojan Cup in Barrie, Ontario, on December 1–3, a number of parents spoke with the Toronto Sun about their worries that transgender swimmer Melody Wiseheart competed in activities with teenagers and shared an bag area with their kids.
At the East Bayfield Community Centre, where the meet was held, Wiseheart, 50, participated in a number of competitions, including the women’s 1500-meter slalom for sports 16 years of age and older. According to the standard results posted to Swimming Canada’s site, Wiseheart finished second in that competition with a period of 21:14.30.

One parent told the Toronto Sun,” It’s all so complicated for the boys.” ” No one feels at ease. Everyone is accepting of everyone, but it’s inappropriate for them to be in the bag space with our children and swim against them.
However, according to Swimming Canada, the nation’s governing body for competitive floating, exposure to changing areas “is determined by facility/municipality guidelines in accordance with appropriate law.”

” In order to prevent discrimination, we must abide by municipal law, provincial plan, and human rights policies. Minors frequently share shift rooms with adults, and swim meets are typically held in public spaces, the statement continued.
Swimming Canada stated,” There are a variety of situations where this can result in open meets seeded by entry days,” in reference to questions involving questions of various ages and/or genders being sown in the same temperature.
Separately, the Richmond Hill Aquatic Club, which hosted the meet, “acted correctly in hosting the opposition according to Swimming Canada and Swim Ontario policies and procedures, including the Pool Canada National Registration Procedures and Rules Manual and The Going Rules of Swimming Canadian,” the municipal governing body for the game said to the Toronto Sun in October after “investigating a problem related to an adult competing against swimmers aged 12 to 14 .”
Swim Ontario even made it clear that, regardless of age, players competing in an “open group” are seeded by access time, which can lead to adults competing against minors in heat competitions.

After updating its plan to only permit athletes who transitioned before age 12 or the beginning stages of puberty, World Aquatics, the worldwide governing body for the game, properly prohibited male-to-female trans athletes from competing in women’s events in 2022.
When contacted by message, Wiseheart did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
