J.K. Rowling says she won’t forgive Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson for their opinions on trans rights.
Rowling’s most recent responses are in response to a new report commissioned by the NHS, which criticized the standards of care for gender-variant children, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The lack of evidence that supports present female care procedures, including puberty blockers, was a key issue in the statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. Pediatrician Dr. Hilary Cass, who led the assessment, emphasized the need for more studies into the long-term consequences of such treatments.
Rowling immediately took to social media to express her opinions on the subject.
In response to a companion’s suggestion that Radcliffe and Watson may find forgiveness for their common support of transgender rights, Rowling was emphatic, “No, I’m afraid. Celebrities who cozied up to a movement that wanted to diminish women’s hard-won rights and who supported the transitioning of minors may keep their apologies for traumatized detransitioners and vulnerable women who rely on single-sex spaces.”
She accused famous people of supporting anti-feminist movements and demanded that their condolences be directed at those affected by identity transitioning.
Rowling’s approach is in line with her long-standing opposition to some aspects of the transgender rights movement, which has received praise and criticism in equal measure.
Her remarks reignite a rift that first emerged in 2020 when Radcliffe and Watson publicly endorsed transgender rights.
While Watson affirmed that “Trans people are who they say they are,” Radcliffe stated that “Transgender women are women.” Their statements clashed with Rowling’s, sparking controversy in the Harry Potter enthusiast community and beyond.
Rowling’s relationship with Warner Bros., the studio behind the Harry Potter film series, has also been affected by the controversy surrounding her stance on trans issues. Despite plans to reboot the saga into a TV series, Rowling’s vocal opinions have created a rift in the otherwise lucrative partnership.
It remains to be seen if Rowling’s unwavering stance will further fracture her relationship with her former stars or if there is room for reconciliation in the magical world they once shared as the debate progresses.
