The 35-year-old comedian put an end to the discussion on “whether transgender life should be acknowledged” in a statement at the Trans Day of Remembrance function hosted by the LGBTQ+ young person’s charity Just Like Us, which Bailey just joined as one of its patrons.
” I can just imagine what it would be like for a young transgender child to try to live their life and pursue an education in 2023. The out queer artist reflected,” Angry families are debating whether transgender life may be acknowledged, and political leaders are prodding them.”
A fresh Just Like Us embassy might be one of the few people a fresh gay person could confide in or get support from now more than ever.
Just Like Us offers an adviser program for gay youth, educating them on how to bring up LGBTQ+ issues in the classroom and assisting in preventing anti-LGBT bullying.
Jonathan Bailey, who is now starring alongside Magic Mike artist Matt Bomer in the gay traditional play Fellow Travelers, even thought back on his own experience as a young queer child.
The artist recently claimed that at the age of 11, he was aware of his homosexuality.
He talked about a time in school when his math teacher reprimanded him for missing lessons because he had been skipping them to practice dance.
I’ll never forget the math lesson where the teacher responded to my question by saying,” You’d know what was going on if you were n’t busy being a fairy,” Bailey said.
The horrifying note was described as “one flow in a continuous stream of bigotry, running from misuse to tension” by the British professional, who will be seen in the Wicked movie adaptation alongside Ariana Grande in late 2024 and in Bridgerton season three in May.
” I’m curious how I would have felt if I had been allowed to speak my mind.” He continued,” I have no idea what it would have meant if I had been surrounded by ambassadors from Just Like Us.
It’s about educating the earth around them, not just about helping gay teenagers. The bigoted math instructor needed to open his eyes just as much as he did ballet-dancing me.
The comedian revealed that homosexuality has followed him into adulthood in a recent discussion with the Evening Standard. He was attacked in the US only one day after speaking with president Joe Biden about LGBTQ+ right in October.
A person in a coffee buy approached him and asked if Bailey was well-known, he explained.
He remarked,” I’m really popular for ordering coffee,” which is really quite annoying to say.
Then he grabbed my cap, pulled it off my head, threw it across the chamber, and yelled,” Get out of this f***ing coffee shop, you gay.”
The assailant threatened to shoot Bailey when he quietly picked up his helmet and put it back on his head, yelling,” Where I’m from, people like me kill things like you.”
Bailey acknowledged that his “life was threatened,” but he claimed that the gay youth who are” surrounded by that every day” were what really worried him.
Children wo n’t be able to grow in any way if that is what they are surrounded by, he said.
