Following an incident where a female gym-goer photographed a trans woman using the women’s locker room, the property of Planet Fitness significantly decreased after disagreement over account cancellation.
An British chain of fitness facilities called Planet Fitness experienced a fiscal crisis earlier this week when one of its locations in Alaska canceled Patricia Silva’s account.
The company’s stock price, which traded at a monthly high of $66.92 on March 7, plummeted to a low of $56.46 on Tuesday (March 19), The New York Post reported.
The price drop followed an incident where Patricia encountered a “man in]the ] women’s locker room shaving”.
After a customer photographed a transgender girl in the boxes, she cancelled her account with Planet Fitness.
In a video Patricia uploaded to Facebook, she claimed that there was “a small child sitting in the corner.” She may have been]12 centuries old… in a blanket sort of freaked out”.
Constantly misgendering the fellow sport-goer, Patricia added: “I was offended. I captured a photo of him.
Torres continued, saying that the man had been shaving their face and that they were “queer.”
Queer is a broad term that can cover a range of physical aims and gender names that are not entirely heterosexual or transgender.
Patricia claimed that her account was voided because she broke the rules prohibiting other gyms users from photographing other people after complaining to Planet Fitness ‘ management.
The school’s policy allows people to use the locker room that coincides with their gender identity, The Post reported.
The client, Patricia Silva, posted some misogynistic outbursts on social media
The organization said in a declaration: Our sex identity non-discrimination policy states that people and customers may use the features that best align with]their honest, self- reported gender identity”.
Additionally, it stated that “If it is determined that a member is acting in bad faith and misrepresenting a gender identity, they may be asked to leave and their membership may be terminated.”
Silva criticized Planet Fitness’s choice in a separate Instagram video, adding that Silva planned to review the incident to the police, according to WGXA News.
“This morning I got canceled”, she said. Instead of the baby sitting in the corner with a handkerchief tucked around her,” Planet Fitness is defending the person in the women’s locker room, the person with a penile.”
According to a study from the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law, there is no proof that allowing transgender people to use public spaces that correspond to their female identity raises health risks.
The first of its kind, according to NBC News, conducted a thorough analysis of the correlation between equality laws in open spaces and reviews of violence in public restrooms and other gender-segregated facilities.
According to Jody L. Herman, one of the study’s authors and a Williams Institute public policy professor, “research has shown that trans people are frequently denied admittance, orally harassed, or actually assaulted while using public restrooms.”
