Local mother files lawsuit against school district, demanding they provide info on gender transition, district calls info private
Pine-Richland. This is a copy of a lawsuit filed by a parent against the Pine-Richland School District. In it, she claims that the district is keeping students’ gender transitions from families and even providing the kids a transition team. But the school’s policy says the parents do not have a right to know the details in this lawsuit. Chronicle, a mother’s fight to be informed it is not about gender and transitioning, but a battle over who gets to know when a child is changing or considering it. I think parents need to have a good eye on their kids. Parents we spoke to were stunned that the district was excluding parents from their child’s gender transition. The Pine Richland transition policy says, quote, district staff must work closely with the student to assess the degree, if any, the parent or guardian will be involved in the process and must consider the health, well-being and safety of the transitioning student. The mother who filed the lawsuit is demanding that the school notify her about any matters concerning her child’s gender identity, the suit claims. When she asked the school to include her, a district representative told her she had no parental rights under are 103 B, which is their administrative regulations. Parents do, and some, you know, are we’ll say, you know, abusive to some degree and persuasive. That is one of the reasons. According to Pine-Richland’s policy, that parents aren’t automatically informed. It’s wrong. And anybody who feels that it isn’t wrong, they’re crazy. But parents we spoke to say no matter the possibilities, they have a right to know if their child is a minor. The mother behind this suit, identified only as Jane Doe, lists serious concerns for her child, who she says has social and emotional challenges, and the mother worries. Quote the school will begin affirming her before Doe knows and can take steps to help her child obtain appropriate medical care. If you would like to read the lawsuit, we have it posted at wtae.com at the Pine-Richland School.
