Meet four trans people who are attempting to emancipate LGBTIQ+ persons from their communities.

Individuals identifying as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex or Queer ( LGBTIQ+ ) often face discrimination, persecution and violence. In 67 nations, similar- sexual relationships are unlawful, carrying serious penalties, including death.

Some LGBTIQ+ people have been forced to make the hard choice to leave their houses in search of protection, but they frequently face more challenges that prevent them from attending school, finding healthy accommodation and jobs, running businesses, and getting healthcare. Despite these difficulties, LGBTIQ+ people continue to show adaptable, finding methods to motivate others in their communities through advocacy and leadership.

Meet four transgender people who are working together to remove barriers to LGBTIQ+ in their societies this Transgender Visibility Day. This organization, based in Honduras, creates defensive measures for LGBTIQ+ people and organizes campaigning and awareness efforts to address the issues faced by forcibly displaced people.

Landry Thomas]She/Her]

Landry is a dedicated transgender woman who fights for the transgender community’s right in Garifuna, Honduras.

With a thorough understanding of the difficulties that transgender people face, she hard raises the voices of transgender people by raising awareness of the particular needs and concerns of the Garifuna trans community and by promoting equality, inclusivity, and respect for all, despite of their identity.

Her active involvement in community engagement and leadership of the Sula Valley LGBTIQ+ Committee demonstrate her dedication to promoting positive change and providing necessary resources and support.

Yosny]They/Them ]

Yosny is a Coordinator at Colectiva Diversa Portea and is a member of the 14 companies that are working with the Valle de Sula LGBTIQ+ Committee. She is incredibly passionate about promoting richness and diversity.

Yosny’s part plays a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction and operations of Colectiva Diversa Portea, making sure that the organization is dedicated to fighting for the rights and well-being of all communities.

Yosny works closely with staff and community members to create and implement activities that celebrate diversity and promote equality. She also works to create a more equitable society. Moreover, Yosny works hard to create systems for dialogue, increase awareness and help marginalized communities.

Rhianna]She/Her ]

Rhianna is a powerful and influent LGBTIQ+ leader in the Garifuna society who positively works to advance and advance trans people like herself.

She vehemently advocates for awareness, acceptance, and equality and fully understands their special challenges.

At just 22, she has already become a beacon of hope, independence and picture for LGBTIQ+ in her society. She is dedicated to creating an equitable and welcoming atmosphere for all through her leadership in the Valle de Sula LGBTIQ+ Committee.

Norman]She/Her ]

Norman, who was born in San Miguel de Guancapla, Hondorus, became the first transgender woman to hold the distinction of being a qualified tradition dancer in Honduran. Her determination, skill, and perseverance have allowed her to challenge conventional gender norms in the creative arena, overcome many obstacles and challenges in her pursuit of folklore dance.

She motivates another LGBTIQ+ people to pursue their goals and overcome social barriers.

For many in her society, Norman is a beacon of ideas. She demonstrates that goals can be realized no matter what sex, identification, or obstacles are.
