Who is Noa-Lynn van Leuven?
Noa-Lynn van Leuven, a Dutch darts player who participates in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events, was born on September 27, 1996.
In 2023, she was the first transgender woman to play in a darts TV game.
Van Leuven joined the Women’s Series at the same time as she just started transitioning in 2022.
She recently revealed how when she transitioned, she perhaps considered giving up darts due to feeling depressed.
“I never actually got into a party where people hang out near darts. My darts activity wasn’t that good because I was really angry with myself,” van Leuven told Sky Sports.
“When you’re hardly feeling great, therefore nothing in life will be really, really good. I stopped playing darts until I had a happier version of myself, but I definitely wanted to do so once more.
“I tried to love life as much as possible. Before going through a lot of meetings with a counselor, I made the transition.
When van Leuven isn’t busy stoking the darts world, she still serves as a chef de partie at her neighborhood restaurant in Heemskerk, a small town a kilometer from Amsterdam.

What championships has Noa-Lynn van Leuven won?
Van Leuven made her debut at the 2022 PDC Women’s Series.
She reached the third championship of both occasions 13 and 14 of the Women’s Series, losing to Beau Greaves 4–2 and Laura Turner 4–3 respectively.
“I believe transgender people find it difficult to participate in sports, especially when they are unaware that they are trans because they have significant benefits until they can demonstrate otherwise,” Noa-Lynn van Leuven stated.
At the 2023 Dutch Open, Van Leuven entered the occasion as the 15th seed and reached the semifinals, losing to Aileen de Graaf.
But, she went on to win the Denmark Open in 2023, beating Irina Armstrong.
In March 2024, van Leuven won the PDC Women’s Series eight times after defeating female competitors in a combined event, and this was followed by a more impressive performance.
To perform darts with women, Van Leuven had to pass stringent transitional testing.
The PDC’s governing body, the Darts Regulation Authority, says that “we encourage all transgender and non-binary participants to participate in Darts.
Van Leuven can now engage in the game she has fallen in love with.
She is also sympathetic to different sports that forbid transgender athletes from competing against them according to their own preferences.
She stated to Sky Sports, “I feel devastated by the people who are affected by that.
“I believe transgender people find it difficult to participate in sports, especially when they are unaware that they are trans because they have significant benefits until they can demonstrate otherwise.”
