After promoting an article she wrote advocating for children’s access to transgender treatments, a New York newspaper journalist asked her online followers to donate funds to a friend’s botched sex operation.

Andrea Long Chu, a transgender woman and critic for a New York newspaper, faced criticism for a blog that promoted her new content, “Freedom of Gender: The moral case for letting transgender kids change their bodies,” which was published on Monday.

Chu’s first post read, “I wrote about what righteousness looks like for transgender children.”

In her article, Chu criticized publications like The Times and The Atlantic for “washing tips” in the “reactionary halls of the media landscape and discussed the transgender “debate” in the US and falsehoods in the trans community she has encountered.

After sharing her work, Chu, who uses the pronouns “she” and “her,” posted a link to a GoFundMe page and asked her 45,000 followers to support her friend who needs a correction procedure after their sex operation left them in “a lot of pain and discomfort.”

“My lovely friend Theo is having agonizing consequences from their operation next year, and if you can, please support.”

The appeal for help to correct a failed procedure so shortly after advocating for it caught the attention of online critics.

Comedian Bridget Phetasy shared her article’s message about the link to the charity page alongside her publish.

Tagging your account with a GoFundMe for issues from one of these operations pretty much says it all, according to Phetasy.

Donovan Cleckley wrote on X that Chu does not really have any self-awareness; instead, he desires the absence.

Another person responded to her post with the phrase “Just a fascinating contrast with zero self-awareness.” “Children must have these procedures; please support my companion with his mishandled procedure.”

Another man said, “You totally are horrible,” under her post.

One man was seen supporting Chu despite the negative responses she received for her contentious blog.

Author Paisley Currah praised the “so much talent in this must-read part by @andrealongchu.”

In the article, Chu discussed how many people have gotten involved in the debate “over the rights of transgender children,” which she claimed is run by “the far left, the liberal center, and some women on the left.”

As of Tuesday morning, the Gofundme link that Chu originally posted on X, was deleted. The donation page is still up and has raised more than $3,075 out of its $10,000 goal
Even though she took it down, others quickly reacted to Chu's post and called her out for her 'fascinating juxtaposition'

The number of people who want to change their sex has increased as a result of an increase in identity freedom, according to the report. According to Chu, sex itself is gaining popularity among these people as a source of independence.

Chu's book that she wrote in 2019 has been credited to launching a 'second wave' of trans studies

Chu also delved into the passage of bills that “ban gender-affirming healthcare for adolescents,” “made schools out pupils to their parents,” and “restrict trans children in sports.”

She claimed that because of social media, social media, peer pressure, and other factors, transgender rights have been hampered by the world.

However, Chu wrote, “We have mostly failed to form a clear social account of why someone’s gender identity may justify the true natural treatments that make up gender-affirming care.”

She argued that the debate over why children choose to change their gender is “a dread we can no longer afford.”

In a book she wrote in 2019 called “Females,” Chu dug into a genre-defying investigation that focused on the public’s approach to “smother” the “embracing of gender.”

According to her website, the book has since been credited with starting a “second wave” of transgender research.

Her blog post to X with a link to the charity site had been deleted as of Tuesday night. More than $3,075 has been raised from a $10,000 goal on the donation page, which is still up.

In her New York magazine piece, Chu specifically identified well-known publications and journalists who she said have 'put wokeness before rational standards of care'

Chu precisely identified well-known publications like The Atlantic, Times, and The Scholar in her New York newspaper article.

She claimed that The Atlantic’s 2018 article, “When Children Say They’re Trans,” misrepresented gender-questioning youth as a social matter before turning the subject into a health issue.

Chu then attacked the Times and claimed that the release was “vigorously correcting” the need to debate the rights of trans youngsters.

Chu even listed several journalists in her part, not just ones she believes have negatively impacted her reasoning.

These authors are far more likely than their Times counterparts to get militants, and they are particularly concerned about the “science denial” of extreme activists who put wokeness before moral standards of care, Chu wrote.
