As we celebrate 200 years of passion, growth, and advancement in our favorite Tallahassee, the 2024 Pride Week design, Pride & Joy, embraces a record of endurance, and most important, of pleasant exuberance of the LGBTQ+ community.
Produced by, Inc. ’s all-volunteer table and in partnership with provincial donors like Visit Tallahassee and the City of Tallahassee, local businesses, nonprofits, and faith communities have joined to send you a year of free software highlighting the various identities within the LGBTQ+ range.
By allowing people to get their true selves, this community-wide party aims to lift all of our neighbors. Whether you are a member of the LGBTQ+ group or a devoted alliance, we invite you to attend any of these events.
Melissa Etheridge, a Grammy and Academy Award-winning rock legend, performed a concert on Sunday, followed by a Monday yoga class on Monday, and a Tuesday un-tea sociable. Situations continue through Sunday.
Celebrate faith and joy across religions on Wednesday, dig into Tallahassee’s LGBTQ+ past on Thursday, express yourself at open mic night on Friday, party in Kleman Plaza and ( for our older crowd ) into the night at 926 Bar & Grill on Saturday, and walk off your worries on Sunday morning with Queer Hikes.
Our society is as attractive as we make it, and we have a lot to celebrate this season.

Faith officials from Jewish, Quaker, Unitarian, and Christian cultures will promote works, tunes, and rituals from their traditions that celebrate the god of all animal creation. We’ll share stories of how our lives have brought joy. We’ll also examine how our collective joy can help us withstand attempts to devalue our joy. We were made to be joyful.
Understanding the LGBTQ History of Tallahassee

What would a queer history of Tallahassee entail? What are the most significant changes in queer and LGBT history, and how can they be used to interpret the queer experience in Tallahassee over the past 200 years?
One of the nation’s first academic authors on gay and lesbian history, Dr. Robert P. S., founded his PhD program at Florida State in the early 1970s, and taught some of the nation’s first university courses on LGBT history and culture on the Florida State campus. Why is n’t this story better known, and how can we build on this legacy? How can theory help ensure that we write histories that acknowledge the centrality of race, class, gender, and gender identity, while also always foregrounding issues of political power, labor, coercion, and class?
Join Professor Charles Upchurch, Professor of British & LGBTQ History at Florida State University, for a 40-minute illustrated exploration of all of these themes as they relate to Tallahassee’s queer history.
