( COLUMBUS, Ohio ) On Wednesday, the Ohio Senate approved a bill restricting some transgender rights for young people in the state.

House Bill 68 is made up of two acts: the” Save Women’s Sports Act,” which forbids transgender girls from participating in girls ‘ and womens ‘ sports, and the’ Save Adolescents from Experimentation Act, which prohibits gender-affirming care for minors.

The Senate Oversight Committee approved the bill before on Wednesday before it was approved by the Senate on March 28. The House of Representatives approved the modifications made by the Senate in June, but it returned to the room for a second voting on Wednesday night. Those were approved by the House by a ballot of 61 to 27.

The costs will then be sent to Republican Governor. It is unclear whether Mike DeWine did sign or veto the bill, but it is on his desk. According to The Cincinnati Enquirer, DeWine has recently voiced opposition to anti-trans sports restrictions.

Now, the Ohio High School Athletic Association states that transgender student players should have an equal opportunity to participate in activities as part of its plan.

A transgender woman had either complete hormone therapy for at least a year or show that she did not have physical or physiological advantages over biological females in order to participate.

A trans male must show that his muscle mass increased as a result of testosterone treatment and does not surpass that of normal biological male adolescents in order to participate. Therefore, every three to six months, testosterone levels are checked.

In the Ohio government last year, a expenses that would have overhauled the State Board of Education’s authority and prohibited trans athletes from participating in sports that reflected their gender identity failed. The act was amended and approved by the Senate, but House members voted against it.

Tristan Vaughn, a co-founder of the Cincinnati trans support organization Transform Cincy, expressed her concern that the legislation banning gender-affirming care will cause more difficulties for younger people with gender dysphoria on local ABC News affiliate WCPO- TV.

It’s a depressing place, Vaughn said. And because that side does n’t look great, this is why we keep doing the work.

However, the bill’s proponents claim that it shields kids from needless medical care.

This legislation safeguards kids. According to WCPO, Matt Sharp of Alliance Defending Freedom, a traditional Christian constitutional advocacy organization, testified before the oversight committee on Wednesday.

According to the American Civil Liberties Union, 26 costs have been passed into law this year in 20 claims that limit LGBTQ Americans ‘ access to healthcare. In court, the prohibitions of several of these claims are being contested.

There are 24 states with laws or regulations that prohibit trans kids from participating in sports constant with their gender identity, according to the Movement Advancement Project, an independent nonprofit think tank.
