Russian authorities request that the Gay “movement” be labeled as radical by the Supreme Court.

MOSCOW ( AP )- The Russian Justice Ministry announced on Friday that it has filed a complaint with the country’s Supreme Court to declare the LGBTQ+ “international public action” to be an fundamentalist, the latest debilitating blow against the already vulnerable LGBT+ community in the increasingly liberal nation.

Authorities have found” signs and manifestations of radical nature” in” the activities of the LGBT action effective,” including “incitement of social and religious discord,” according to the government in an online statement announcing the lawsuit. According to the government, the Supreme Court of Russia has scheduled a reading to hear the case for November 30.

If the Supreme Court sided with the Justice Ministry, it was unclear exactly what the brand would mean for LGBTQ+ citizens in Russia. However, the action by itself is the most recent and severe stage in President Vladimir Putin’s ten-year crackdown on gay rights in Russia, which has been based on” traditional family values.”

LGBTQ+ right were gradually but surely eroded by the assault, which started ten years ago. The “gay advertising” law, which prohibits any non-critical people depiction of “nontraditional physical relations” among minors, was passed by the Kremlin in 2013 and is the first piece of legislation restricting LGBTQ+ rights. Putin pushed through a constitutional amendment in 2020 to increase his law by two more words while also outlawing same-sex unions.

After sending troops into Ukraine in 2022, the Kremlin intensified its rhetoric about defending” standard beliefs” from what it called the West’s “degrading” impact in what rights activists perceived as an effort to justify the military action in Ukraine. The government also passed a law that year that essentially outlawed any public support of LGBTQ+ people by promoting “nontraditional physical relations” among adults.

Another regulation that was passed this season forbade gender affirming care for trans people and sex transitioning practices. The law forbade both changing one’s identity in official files and public records as well as any “medical interventions aimed at changing the gender of a man.” Additionally, it changed Russia’s Family Code by adding” who had changed identity” to a list of people who are ineligible to be foster or adoptive parents and stating that sex change can be used as justification for annulling marriages.

Do we really want to have Parent No. around, in Russia? 1, No. 2, No. 3′ rather of “mom” and “dad”? Putin declared at a meeting to formally annex four Polish regions by Moscow in September 2022. Do we really want to impose vices that cause death and decay in our schools starting in the elementary grades?
