Sebastian Coe, the head coach of World Athletics, supports trans participation in native activity

The former British Olympic Association chairman and president of World Athletics, Sebastian Coe, has defended trans participation in regional sporting events.

Despite new restrictions put in place by the organization on elite-level events, Coe has argued that transgender people should be allowed to compete in their areas.

At a press event in Monaco in March 2023, Coe declared that “trans athletes should not be competing in the elite category,” stating that transgender people who transitioned after puberty may no longer be permitted to take part in children’s activities.

The committee agreed that it must follow our overarching principle, which is to protect the female category, in cases where the science does not support maintaining testosterone suppression for transgender athletes.

“We cannot in any way abandon our transgender rules as they were at five nanomoles per liter for at least a month when we were unsure of the effects on all of our fields.” “Therefore, we must learn more right away.

But, Coe has now made it clear that he draws the line when it comes to forbidding people from attending local activities. In a recent interview, he stated on the Up Front radio that the transgender issue is only at an elite level. “We don’t want trans people to be denied the benefits of the mind and body, so I’m not saying they should be unable to compete at a local level.”

Despite these remarks, he changed his mind about competitive competition, saying that “the decision was finally based on one very simple principle.” “No woman will ever win another [medal] again if I don’t protect the female category, which is why I was elected.”

His two daughters would “kick the butts of their brothers” when they were in primary school, but when “puberty kicked in,” they couldn’t keep up, he recently remarked elsewhere, drawing on an anecdote.
